Can anyone help me with what the discount in points is for DVC members who book a cruise with points within X days after they cruise. I understand many do not believe there is good value in using points to cruise, I am just looking at options. On our last cruise at the DVC presentation the guide mentioned there was a discount in points if you booked your next cruise using points with member services right after the cruise.
Hope someone has the answer out there.
Thanks

There is some sort of formula out there, but I'm not really sure what it is (it might even change for every cruise). The best thing to do would be to call MS and see if they can offer some general information (I think I've read that the "discount" is 5-10% off the number of points listed in the point charts, and that you are not entitled to a stateboard credit as you are when paying cash). Try also posting on the Cruise Boards to see if anyone will provide their specific details. Failing that, you'll just have to wait until you are rebooking onboard. If you do find out and wouldn't mind posting what you find back here, I'd be very interested. :thumbsup2

It's approximately 10% but depends on the cruise itself. They should leave a discounted point chart for you in your cabin. You can't rebook while on board but have 3 days to call MS to rebook.

Thanks so much for the responses. 10% sounds about right. Still looking at cash options too, would love to rent points but being in Canada the market is a little smaller here.

How far away are the cruises that you can rebook for? We are cruising at the end of Sept and would likely cruise again in Spring 2012. I'm thinking that would be too far away to take advantage of rebooking.

I think as long as the point charts are out, you can book. But, as far as I know, the 2012 cruises haven't yet been released. :thumbsup2

You can usually book up to about 2 years in advance. For example, I booked my July 2010 cruise in October of 2008. So it is always best to check with MS to see how far out you can book if you have dates in mind. :)

Funny, on member website right now it say:
Currently, you may request a reservation for a Disney Cruise Line® vacation that has a sail date on or before April 9, 2012, some sailings may not be available for booking at the 24-month window.

But these is no way too book 2012 cruise because there is no point chart available!!!!
