I have a question on what ID is needed for the 3 night cruise. My Husband has a non picture license, a birth certificate with a raised seal, and a photo ID from Mail Boxes etc. This photo ID is stamped by a notary and has the raised seal. This has always been good enough for the plane ID. Will this work for the Disney Cruise.

You should call DCL to make sure....but I am thinking it might not be acceptable. You could also check out DCL website and look for information of what is acceptable forms of photo I.D.

Edited to add that it does not look like it will be acceptable...I just checked DCL website...here is the link...it must be a government issued photo i.d.

Looking at the list on the link it had passport, birth certificate and photo id. I thought getting the passport did away with having to carry the birth certificate. I was planning on just having my passport and driver's license. I know that I need to copy the inside of my passport and keep it in a safe place but is that the reason for the birth certificate - in case you lose your passport?
Confused,
Sandy

If you have a passport, you do not need BC and photo id. We always do bring an extra photo i.d for when we leave the ship...I do not like to carry my passports around with me so I just bring a copy of them and another photo i.d. like my Drivers license.

The way DCL listed all of them it does look like you need them all...but it is either/or.

Read the sentence this way:
You need either 1 or 2...
1) A Passport
2) Birth Certificate and Government Issued Photo Id

So having a passport does "Do Away With" having to take the Birth Certificate.

I take my Passport and Drivers License. The passport gets me on the ship (at the beginning of the cruise) in Florida (or California ::yes:: ) and off of the ship at the end of the cruise (immigration) and through immigration at St. Thomas on the Eastern Cruise.

The Drivers License and KTTW card gets me off and on the ship while in port.

Finnaly, most definately take a copy of your Passport Identification page and keep it seperate from your passport itself.

I would check with your airline on that photo ID, I suspect that isn't a legal photo ID, at least not anymore. Actually, I think you have just been lucky, because I think airlines were supposed to always require a government photo ID.

What state does your husband have a drivers license in? I thought New York state was the last to convert to driver's license with photos, and that was in the 1990's.

I think New Jersey still has DL's with no photo's....I have had my NY DL for 30 years and it has always had my photo on it....wow...I can't believe I am that old...16 + 30 = :sad1:

Yes, in New Jersey you can still have a non photo license. They are suppose to change that in the future.

Interesting about the photo ID from Mailboxes Etc with the Notary Stamp on it.
Talked to a Notoray today, what ever notary did that could get their commission yanked, it's illegal to do that, because for a Notary to notarize anything, THEY have to see photo ID first.
