Hi All

I need help booking a cruise to either the Med or Carribbean and am wandering if anybody knows any "children friendly" cruiselines apart from Disney obviously ,also if the Med when is the best time to go.
I have done Disney world six times as a single parent anybody think a cruise with two DDs (6&12) will be o.k or not as I am unsure.:(

We are going to the Caribbean with P&O for Christmas - they are very child friendly. P&O also cruise the Med. They have just started Ocean Village which is a more laidback approach to cruising which operates in the Med aswell.
Other cruise lines which are particularly known for being child friendly are Carnival, Princess and Royal Caribbean - all have kids clubs and run special activities for all ages.
I think you'll find a cruise is perfect for you. You can spend some time on your own relaxing and know your kids are being well cared for and there are also plenty of activities to do together as a family.

Hi Kev - sounds like a good question for SimonV.. I'll point out your post to him :)

I'm moving this onto the UK CB too :)

I'll definitely second the call for P&O in the Med. I rate them the No 1 for children of that age, with great kids programmes and the best child counsellors of them all. All their ships have excellent facilities and a night nursery up to 2am every night. Our 2 couldn't wait to get in there every day, and sailing with P&O has the great benefit of going from Southampton, so there is no flying and you can take as much as you can get in the car! Ocean Village are still rather new, hence not fully tried and trusted in my book, while Royal Caribbean are not quite so good for this age group (but are great with 10-teens, as are Princess). Any time in the summer is a good time to do the Med as the weather is very calm (although a bit hot in places). Beware, though - once you've tried a cruise (and your kids have seen what's on offer), you might not want to do anything else ever again!

My 2 loved the P+O kids club but werent so keen on the Princess one , except on Princess keys. We found the P+O hours suited us better as well, they do a kids tea at 5.30 I think so you could take them to that if they didnt want to go to dinner (ours did half of the time) and there was always kids entertainment during 1st sitting dinner, then they went back to the kids club until whenever. My boys still have the prizes won and a trophy for fancy dress.
Saying all that We enjoyed the Princess atmosphere and itinerary better.
