Cruise duck question

This is ultimately what it comes down to. Cruise lines have all pretty much came out and said no to the whole duck nonsense. That is their official stance. Unfortunately, the pay structure on most cruise lines relies way too much on positive and negative feedback from passengers. It is not worth it for the crew to risk getting yelled and screamed at or getting a negative comment over a rubber duck and some might even help just in the small chance someone will recognize them and put in a good word for them. Ultimately, the entitled passengers who do the whole duck thing are simply exploiting a flaw in the pay structure. A crew member is not going to risk a promotion, raise or their job because a cruise Karen wants to put a rubber duck in a flowerpot. So, the entitled think they aren't doing anything wrong (or flat out just don't care that they are), the crew gets to fight another day and those of us who follow rules just roll our eyes and talk about the entitled behind their backs. The world keeps on spinning.
^^^ THIS ^^^ (Except I don't talk about the entitled behind their backs. I do it to their face. 😁 )

However there are post-cruise surveys - or even emails - and those of us who DO feel like they should be able to enforce no ducks have the right to let them know we don't approve of duck hiding and feel that they should back up the crew on enforcing it. Especially on a line like Disney where themeing is SO important, if them being hidden - or more specifically people being insane going for them (there was a video a while back (i don't know if it was on here) where a woman was tearing up one of the atrium planters to get to a dang duck) is disrupting that for us, we have the right to complain just as much as a Karen who thinks it's her god-given right to hide them or hunt them. Why should our voices count less than hers?

We have complained and DCL has listened to us by stating no duck hiding. As far as they are concerned all crew/cast members are enforcing the rules (I'm sure they know it's not the case, but they can fall back on it being their policy). Chances are though that the negative review a crew/cast member get from the entitled are not going to admit that the reason is because they were told not to hide ducks. DCL isn't going to differentiate negative comments with negative comments because of ducks. So for a crew/cast member it is just better to keep their head down and a smile on their face.

Also, negative anger will always speak louder than civilized displeasure. While we might be inconvenienced for a few moments by duck people and let DCL know through the survey or an email, watch out for the Karen whose whole trip was ruined because they were told not to hide ducks (after all, they spent all this money and should be able to do what they want because me, me, me) and now she will never go on DCL again and will let the whole world know how DCL doesn't care about their passengers.
