Cruise check-in at WDW resorts?

If you book a resort and cruise seperately can you check-in for your cruise at the resort or do you have to wait to check-in for the cruise at the port?

When we did ours, we kept our room key (KTTW card) and it then became our Cabin key. We checked in at DCL at the Beach Club, left our luggage out when they asked us too and then hopped on the DCL bus when we were told to. Easy as pie. Of course we booked the package together but I would believe you can do the same thing. I would call DCL if you are concerned or wait till you get to your resort and then check with the DCL desk. I am assuming you still purchased the transfers through DCL. Maybe someone else on this board booked them separately and can explain how it worked for them. Enjoy your land\sea vacation. - Mike

I am pretty sure being able to check in once is a perk of booking the land and sea package. When you book the land and sea package, Disney Cruise Line takes care of all the reservation stuff. When you book them seperately, the resort takes care of its part and the cruise line takes care of the sea part. Therefore, it makes sense that you have to check into each "entity" seperately. If it were me, I would definitely see the nice people at your hotel's cruise desk to see if anything can be done to expedite your check in for the cruise part of the trip.

We are driving so no we did not purchase the DCL transfers so we are driving to the port. I will just ask when I get to the resort. It's not a big deal if we can't check-in until we arrive at the port, I was just curious. Thanks.
