cruise booking question

Please let me know if this makes sense and is doable.

We have 3 contracts with Dec UY. For our 09 UY we have 81 points in our AKV, 300 in BLT and 200 in BLT. We want to call this weekend and book a cruise for Sept '10. Will we be able to use our 09 AKV points and borrow from our 2010 AKV points? We'd prefer not to use any of our BLT points for the cruise since we need them for a stay after the cruise and a grand villa in 2011.

I guess my confusion is because I'm booking the trip now and I'm not sure how member services looks at UY for booking. Does it go by the UY that the trip falls in, in this case 09, and you can borrow from the following UY, here 2010?

That is doable. When you call MS to make the reservation, you can tell them which contract you want to borrow the points from. The UY that the trip falls in is key. It has no impact on when you can make the reservation.

According to the DVC website on the DCL points chart, members cannot book a cruise within the last 4 months of their use year. If your UY is December, then September is within that 4 month period where you cannot book.

You are reading it incorrectly. Here's what's posted on the member website:

You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection, (excluding Disneyland© Resort Hotels in California), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.

It states you can't book AND travel during the last 4 months of your UY. You can book during the last 4 if your trip is in the following UY.

Thanks for your help Rob and Michael. We got the cruise booked this morning and were able to take points from the various contracts exactly how we wanted to.
