Welcome back Taswire. We have missed you!

Welcome to all our new cruisers!

I love the idea of a meeting room at the Radisson, BUT...the food thing sounds like it could get expensive. Having worked in the industry I know what kind of prices they charge. What if I picked up a few items at the supermarket on the way in (chips, dip, nuts, veggie tray, cheese/crackers) along with some paper plates and napkins???If everyone put in a dollar or 2, I'll bet we could have a nice spread.

On board we should all plan to get together at the returning cruisers party, and "take over" 3 or 4 tables. I think if a few of us get there early and hold a few tables we could all be together.

I'm not so sure of the post counting thingy. When you add them up they are WAY short of 1400+. I demand a recount!;)

The lanyards came today!!!!!!

Ave, I think we better plan for some "cool weather activities" for the kids at Hilton Head. The weather report says cold and rain for Friday the 14th:(
You bring the oysters, I'll bring the movies, and the NIntendo!

Thanks for the welcome back, folks. Nancy - I got back "home" yesterday, but should be back in FL again late next month if all goes well.

Yes, we were able to make it to CC. The night before it looked iffy, because the seas were a bit rough (Didn't bother me though. Ginger pills really work!). It was cloudy and cool but no rain. Then it warmed up a bit and got sunny. Not too bad. But then, I didn't go in the water. Some of the CMs appeared to be wearing parkas with their shorts! I guess the weather doesn't bother me because I cruise for the ship more than the destinations, but it would be a real pain to be onboard with disgruntled first-time cruisers if we couldn't do CC! If you click on the chipmunk pic below it takes you to my travel site. Then click DISNEY on the left and you'll find links to my not-so-great cruise pics. Trip report coming soon.

Shari

Mike...did you like the room?? Was it a good location? How about noise? I am pretty grumpy if I don't get a nap!!!!;)

Welcome to Our New Cruisers! So glad to have you join us.:D
Rellingtwin: Watch out Hilton Head here come the Twins!!! I will bring the oysters and as I recall last year was not all that warm either. Don't worry, it won't stop the kids from going in the pool and there's always the hot tub for us! Maybe we could line up the horseback riding before we get there. I am really looking forward to a little relaxing time.
Later, Ave

I was in cruise chat tonight and no one esle from this thread was there.
Rosemary???? Where are you?????LOL!

Ave, the kids will swim no matter what. We just have to be ready with lots of towels for when they get out of the water! The campfire will be nice if the weather is cool, as will horseback riding. We are going to have fun NO MATTER the weather, I just want to be prepared for "indoor type" activities.

Taswire, I saw your pictures on your sight!!! Very cool!
How was you stay in Daytona......see any race car drivers while you were there;) ?

I'm here Mary! I just finished catching Rich up with all the postings on this thread. Would you believe it took over an hour!?! He said we went through so much he doesn't remember what he wanted to say to different people. Should have used Cathy's idea and kept a cheat sheet! LOL He is now making me my official Friday night winter drink - A White Russian.

So, should I pop over into chat or not? It is not 10 p.m. yet....

I was only in FL 16 days this time including the cruise, doing the parks, plus photo shoots. I didn't have nearly enough time there. The race drivers are there now with Speedweek coming up. Actually, tonight at Spruce Creek Fly-In, Mark Martin and several other neighborhood race drivers were participating in some sort of fundraiser for a worthy cause. My sister was invited but is recovering from her facelift. LOL! I don't know the details, as it was my 80 year old mother trying to tell me about it. But I will be back down there several times before Cruisetoberfest, and have not forgotten what I mentioned in my PM to you.

SWEET TEA versus sweetened tea -

Yes, there is a difference between real southern sweet tea (pronounced as one word: sweetea - like sweetheart).

Sweetened tea is regular iced tea with sugar added.

Sweet tea is brewed *with* the sugar. This makes the tea a different kind of sweet - it tastes a bit different than adding sugar to cold, bitter tea.

They say all true southerners drink sweet tea and would never think of adding sugar to plain iced tea. But heck, my mother's family was from up north, so I grew up (down here in central Florida) drinking plain iced tea! I usually can't stand sweet tea or sweetened tea. When Amy and I are at a restaurant and we are both having tea, she puts half a pink packet in her iced tea while I have mine plain. If the waiter sees both glasses completely empty and takes our glasses for a refill, I can tell if he switched the glasses (small amount of sugar on the ice, I suppose)!

The only place I did not mind sweet tea was in Saudi Arabia where they brew a different kind of tea that is sweet and served hot in an espresso cup. Of course, it would have been rude not to partake in a kind gesture with folks who don't know what you're saying and you sure as heck can't figure out what they are trying to say. But I did grow accustomed to that tea at meetings - and brushing my teeth with some sort of stick / plant branch that tasted minty...

Well, I popped over into cruise chat for little over a half hour'ss time and it was fun as always, even though no Cruisetoberfester (past or present) was there. EXCUSE ME!!! I am wrong. TNRobin was there. How can I forget that she was a Cruisetoberfester #1 cruiser??!!???

Rich is not posting because he is waiting for new glasses to come in but in regards to the playing hookie postings, he wanted to say that he calls that "having eye trouble"..... he can't see going into work that day! LOL!!

Oh gosh, I wish I kept a cheat sheet. I remember someone asking some question a number of pages back and NO ONE responded to it. How rude! And now I can't remember what the question was and I'm too lazy to check back! Guess I'm being rude now....

HI DAN!!! Miss me???? Tammy is your sister, correct? We (she and I) need to talk. LOL!

Applauding RellingTwin with her addition to the cruiselist. I still would like to know, however, who cruised immediately after our original Cruisetoberfest. Is anyone cruising with us this time that cruised on 9/28/01??? I invaded that thread a lot back then. Hell, they even had a bunk for me in someone's room and I was gonna stowaway following our cruise and join them. However, I couldn't see stowing away without my Tulirich so I didn't do it. :(

Mary and Ave and families - have fun at HH. Mary - Rich and I can also stop and get stuff for Radisson too. We can coordinate something with that, if you like. I agree, paying for a waiter and food and drinks will add up quickly. Better to do it on our own.

Taswira - I was checking out your site too. Pretty neat! Your mom looks great!!! Glad she enjoyed cruising with you. Again, missed your postings.

Mike and Kathy (okay, I'm on a roll now, this is gonna end up being a long post) - Glad Scarlet is fully recuperated!! LOL! Rich and I were in hysterics over some of your sayings: Dog scalded, split frog hairs and such!! Where do you guys come up with such sayings? Give sweet little Katie (NOT the Katie Monster! - how can you say such a thing?) a big hug and kiss from us!

Taswira - Another one waiting for an answer as to what Sweet Tea it.

Cathy - Speaking of tea, have you tried Bigelow's Green Tea with Mint? I think I am addicted to it! (I'm pretty sure Cathy is the one that this should be directed to.)

Eric - Anxiously awaiting our next update. This will be a printout one, methinks. Hey! I think we should all send Birthday Greetings to your grandpa. When is his birthday, May or March?? Do you think he would get a kick out of that? We could all email you something - A note or e-card or such - and you can print them out to present to him that day. Well, if no one else wants to and no matter what YOU think about the idea, I'm gonna do it anyway and you can decide whether or not to send it to him. Just refresh this old memory of mine... He is going to be 90, right? in March or May?? Oh and BTW - one does NOT become a senior when they turn 40! So, again, quityabellyachin!!!!!

Hoping Dave and Ellen and family enjoyed their cruise. They will be departing tomorrow. I read somewhere on the boards that some people left the ship at St. Maartin's due to illness. I hope Cheese and family are okay. I wonder if it was because of that virus or if the seas were too rough? Dave and Ellen - Welcome home when you read this, and let us know ASAP how things went for all of you.

I still wish DCLFan and family were going on this cruise too...

I think I'm rambling....

I think I gotta start printing out pages or something. I wanna respond to Nancy and Bette and Elaine and Fiona and Amy and more but I can't remember specifics except, please LET ME CATCH YOUR DECLUTTERING ENTHUSIASM!!!!!

I told you guys midway that this was gonna end up being a long post. Maybe I should have broken it up into more than one and then I could move out of third place position in regards to number of posts to this thread. LOL!

Everyone have a great weekend.

Would love to hear more from all the newcomers to the thread. Please don't be intimidated to jump in and post whatever you like. We would like to hear from you again.

Short posts are so much easier to read.....

Chris - Thanks for the sweet tea explanation. I saw it after I posted my mega-post. It would be interesting to taste sweet tea some time and see what my tastebuds think of it. I do like my tea sweet and your description of the sugar brewing with the tea sounded intriguing.

Oh, and Chris, if you don't mind, when were you in Saudi Arabia? I keep thinking about the Grumman people here that went there in the 70's but I don't think you would be that old. LOL (Don't have a Cruisetoberfest List handy to look at). Were you there for the Gulf War? Just being nosey. You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

Tulirose - The reason I didn't jump in with an explanation of sweet tea is because I don't make it, I only drink it, and only at Cracker Barrel or in any restaurant when I'm down South. I was born and raised in San Diego CA and although everyone else in the family was raised in the south, we never drank sweet tea at home. I knew it was brewed with sugar, but couldn't tell you exactly how.

The journal and pics of my mom were from the Nov. cruise. I am hoping to post my journal for this month's cruise before the weekend is over, but so far only managed the pictures.

Eric - Exactly how many (counting all adults and children, booked with DU and elsewhere) are there so far for Cruisetoberfest II? Are there any more "possibles" who have not yet booked but are likely?

Rosemary,

You are WRONG Missy is my sister, not Tammy! Also I told them not to talk to strangers and my friend that would be the catergory you are in!

Love ya
d

Hi Dan, Scott, Fantasia and everyone else:wave:

Rosemary my dear departed mother(rest her soul) used to say when someone cut her off while driving or cut line in a store;" that person has more b*lls than a Christmas tree!":teeth:

Finished our federal taxes today and electronically filed them. There is part of the cruise money. Would have paid it all, but property tax and insurance are due:( One good thing is that Tennessee has no state income tax. Just a high sales tax.

Look out Hilton Head here comes the twins!!!!!!!!!!

Mike

Shari,
the last count was about 60 adults and 20 kids with 90% of them booked.

Rosemary,
that congratulation for Gramps is a great idea. His 90th BD is 05/13/03. On Wednesday I was at his place to watch "The Mummy" with him, because he specifically demanded that movie, but after 10 minutes into it he stated, that he already knew it. Fortunately a collegue of mine returned my "The Fast and The Furious" that day, so we had an alternative. Next week Anja will work the late shift again, so it's "Return of the Mummy" then.

Oh my! I think I've been wounded to the core!

To Talk With Eric!!!

 Good morning Eric and Anja!!!

Mike, Congrats on filing your taxes. Gotta get our stuff together to do same. Not exactly sure what message you were delivering to me but if your dear mom was anything like her son, she was quite a nice lady.

Eric - Your Grandpa's b-day is just a few days after mine!

Dan - Gonna go cry myself to sleep now......

Night all.
