:bounce: :bounce: Lurker Alert :bounce: :bounce:

Hi guys --- some of you know us from the first CRUISETOBERFEST.
I know Eric remembers "dunking ze kraut!".

God Willing and the IRS cooperating, we may be joing you next year.

Dan & Scott - I still remember when you took that wonderful picture of the ships passing. BTW how's the chair --- going to try for another one to make a set?

JNOEL -- How are the girls? Hope the granddaughter is making you smile ;)

You may be interested to know that I just read where DISNEY came upon some Cubans that were floating about in a raft trying to get to the USA ... check it out, it's under Cruise reports.

ALSO ... Seems that Disney has asked Alaska for docking rights. They have a new ship being made to be based on the west cost.
Sounds like cruises to Alaska ... hey what about Hawaii?

Eric ... Do you know where I can find some German Mickey Mouse
clipart? I have an idea for CRUISETOBERFEST II.

Dave & Ellen ... It's your tablemates ... HI.

OK Lurker going away now.

How are you doing. I have been "lurking" on your 9/28 topic too. Wish we were all in the same week. Hope you will be with us again 10/11/03. We can have your whole table together again. We are already planning on sitting with Eric and Anja. We have the picture from dinner with the First Officer on formal night in our living room. I was just looking at it earlier tonight and reminiscing. The September 21 cruise just won't be the same without all the Cruistoberfester. There are two of us though. Windermere is also on the 9/21 cruise as the 2nd week of back to back cruises.

Shari, I haven't really timed the delay between pictures, but it is probably 3 or 4 seconds. Of course the delay from the time you press the shutter button until the picture is taken is also probably a second. Whatever it is it is much better than my Kodak DC290 was. That has a very long "processing" time after taking about 4 or 5 pictures. Drove me crazy. I also know the CD300 has a burst mode of 3 pictures with or without bracketing. The camera also has some buffering capability so the CD access isn't complete before the next picture can be taken. The flash charge gets in there too.

Tulirose, I agree with Shari, there are many way to show digital pictures. There are also many web sites that which will print pictures that you upload. Ofoto.com, snapfish.com, shuttefly.com to name a few. Last year I got a bunch of free prints as they where offering promotions to get people to sign up. It worked on me. I even bought some framed 8x10s from them.

Dave

Yep! You're right Cheese Please - there are LOTS of good photo web sites that will do the job. The main reason I don't use them is because although I have high-speed Internet when I'm in Florida, when I'm in Idaho I'm lucky to connect at 26.4 even with a 56k modem. I'm sort of in the sticks here. No broadband or cable Internet. And since the printed results depend on the quality (including resolution and file size) of what you submit, it would take me forever to upload more than a few pics.

JNOEL! Nice to "see" you again. Glad to hear you will be joining the CruistoberfestII:)
Looks like we will have a bunch of the former cruisers and a whole bunch of new friends too! Anyone wanna bet we make it to 200 Dis'er next year????
Hello again RoseMary and Richard! Has Richie started school yet?
Hi Dan and Scott! Hope you get another chair.
Hi Taswira...can't wait to meet you!

I am taking my twin and her family on this years cruise and hope to bring both my twin and also my brother and his family on 10/11/03. When I say "bring" I mean convince them to go. NOT pay for them LOL!

Anyone seen DVCNuts????

Hi Folks,

here's some news:
1st: We have an additional Listkeeper. Mary/Rellingtwin volunteered to back me up. As you perhaps remember we still have six weeks of vacation over here in Germany, which will lead to periods of absence from the boards of your humble listkeeper ;) Additionally we intend to roam the American Eastcoast for about three weeks before embarking on the Magic, so a back-up is necessary. ).EVERYBODY GIVE A BIG HAND FOR RELLINGTWIN

2nd: I also established a new email-account for all the cruise-related traffic, it's cruisetoberfest2@yahoo.com and Mary and I have reading rights for it. We will use it to administrate the list and all aspects of the cruise-of-our-lifetime ;) If id did it correctly, you will also find a link to this adress in my DIS-signature (See below)

Yes Dave,
we're also looking forward to dine with you and Ellen again!!! And it would also be great to have Cathy and Art on our table.

Cathy,
try EPCOT-related sites for a German Micky and I'll also look for it. In EPCOT I saw Micky in Lederhosen (Leatherpants).

It's good that Eric will have some help, I just can't understand how he can get by with only six weeks of vacation. No wonder he wants to make us sweat.

I remember most of your names from last year, I guess I was a "lurker". Can't wait to get to know all of you better.

I was fretting over the long time until Cruisetoberfest 2, so I'd just about decided to book a Halloween 3 day. I lurked over at their thread and who do I find but Taswira. Was that RellingTwin over there too?

Looks like I'd better get that new job, I'm beginning to hang out with an expensive class of people.

Yep, jmalk - You'd BETTER be booking the Halloween Wonder! Your kids will LOVE the surprise. Besides, it would be great to get a chance to meet you before next October! (If you don't make that one, I'm taking my mother on the Nov. 10 . . . ). ;)

Well, what the heck, I just reserved our flights and emailed our TA at DU. That's why we work, right? Anyone else care to take the plunge?

Shari, Looks like we'll see you there. I'l let you know my cabin # when confirmed. I don't know how to keep this a secret from the kids though.

Jean,
six weeks of vacation are only bearable for me, because I'm able to extend them with additional days like holidays and my employer (An American company!!) also enables us to accumulate overtime on a time-account. ;-) We can then use the saved time to extend our vacation.
But on the other hand I take home work nearly every weekend (Right now the charts of Newark and Los Angeles are waiting on my desk to be verified by me).

Hello future cruise mates. Kathy and I will wait to book the cruisetoberfest II cruise until we are onboard the 09/28 cruise. That way we will get the onboard credit. Lurker leaving. Mike

Eric I don't see how in the world you can survive on on 6 weeks of vacation. After working for the same company 27 years I was only getting 5 weeks.

Mike,
our "Federal Vacation Law" states that no employee in Germany must have less than 24 days of vacation per year. Vacation days are only Monday through Friday, so these 24 days translate to roughly 5 weeks. I have 31 days per year, which is slightly above average for our country, but my Mum who's with the same company for more about 30 years has 33 days. If you plan your vacation thorougly you can make about 7 to 8 weeks out of my 31 days - But you have to throw in some overtime to get that many weeks. Anja gets bonus-days for late- and night-shifts at the hospital and usually ends up with 31 to 32 days as well.
Now you know why a Mercedes is so much more expensive than a Lincoln or a Chrysler ;) , but you can also see why its quality is much better: Because a well-rested worker is highly motivated and very prone to deliver a good job.

To everyone:
I'm sorry, but this weekend I had to do something to earn my vacation -and the dough to pay for it- in assuring that Lufthansa-aircraft will land safely at Newark, NJ and Los Angeles, CA, that I couldn't find enough time to update the list - I'm really sorry, but I' hope that I can do it next weekend.
I'll see you on the boards and hope that you'll have better weather in States than we have over here: We -meaning nearly all Europeans- had catastrophic weather for the last days, causing damage in the millions and many fatalities: Thunderstorms, floods, even heavy hail and snow in Spain; Northern Italy looks like an enlarged Venice; in Bavaria and Austria many roads are blocked and houses are destroyed; the German coast are devastated etc. It's getting worse from year to year!! And you guys had your share too, with the big wildfires in the West and the flood in Texas. Let's hope that everything gets back to normal ASAP!!

Eric hope that you and Anja are safe and dry with all the flooding going on there in Germany.

Rosemary that was some kind of a deal on the dress. Wish I could do that with my bills;)

Everyone have a great day and keep thinking happy cruise thoughts. Mike

papa,

thanks for the link to Katies album! She is adorable!

to all:

My final payment is due August 20 for our October cruise and then September 13-21 we are at Disney. The September trip is huge since we are taking my mom, grandma and sister! Really looking forward to it.

Tulirose,

Where you at? Why haven't you been posting? What's up with that?

Dan

Oh sure, take all them but send a lousy plane ticket and reserve a tiny room for Rosemary, he doesn't even consider. :( Well, I won't hold that against you and still wish you a great wonderful time on both trips!

I haven't posted this yet on this thread. Mike is referring to what I posted on their 9/28 thread. I thought Mary, who plans EVERYTHING ahead of time, would be SO proud of me.... I went shopping on Friday in search of the perfect dress to wear to my HS reunion next week. I got that AND I also got another dress especially for cruise next year (which we will be leaving on in exactly fourteen months from yesterday).

Anyway, the dress I got for the cruise was originally $100 and I got it for the ridiculously low price of 17 bucks!! How's that for being thrifty!!

I also bought great shoes at the ridiculously low price of 17 dollars also!! The dress I purchased for the reunion was not that ridiculously low but at least it was on sale too.

Okay, I know I'm boring you all to tears, especially probably the guys, but I was really pleased with myself!!

Tulirose - I'm glad you gave us the details about the dress. I re-read this entire thread twice because I was sure I overlooked something and I was trying to figure out what papa was talking about! :p

Taswira - LOL - papa is a sweetie but he confused me too! I also searched the thread a bit looking before I realized.... :jester:

Almost forgot.....

BIG HANDS APPLAUDING RELLINGTWIN HELPING OUT VIKING WITH THE CRUISE LIST!!!!

Happy to see JNOEL planning on cruising with us again and happy to see @Goofynut posting too.

 to all posters and lurkers alike (that includes you too Dan) !!! :teeth:

Hi Folks,

could everybody please send a short mail to the new adress (See my signature). This facilitates getting all your adresses into the new adressbook located in our Yahoo-account. It would save me the time to type all the adresses and would also avoid mistakes by typing errors (I type according to system Columbus: "Every letter is a new discovery) :p

Thanks for your help
