Well, Viking... It's interesting you use the word herd...If you can get me to the gym, more power to you. Is it by a bar? Maybe I could just stay with my beer in hand and watch you. Would that count? Do trips to the buffet count as exercise? I could count if it helps...1..2..3..shrimp 2..2..3..cheesecake 3..2..3..ice cream...

Wish me luck, I'm going to a job interview in a few minutes. Hopefully more money so I can get ready for my spa bill. I'm in nursing (along with many others of you I hear) so I will always be able to get some kind of job, but this one has flex time.

All this talk about cameras has my head spinning. I have a digital, but I have a hard time getting clear pictures. Who's going to run the remedial camera workshop on board? I am kinda blonde.

Yes,

I use a bar which delivers electric charges to tender parts of my victims' bodies- Am I a bartender then?:jester:
For a shrimp you have to do a push-up, for cheesecake a lap of the ship, etc.

Good luck for your job interview!!!!

PS: If your pictures are all blurred, it may be caused by aforementioned beer in your hand ;)

Well, I guess you always CHARGE your bar bill then. LOL. By the way, I don't always have a beer in my hand, sometimes I have to wait for the waitress.

The job interview went well, stage I. Next time we talk $$. Who knows, maybe it'll be the Disney Suite for us. Not really, but I can dream.

<B>Eric:</B> You <I>know</I> I was only kidding! But instead of banging on my door, you could just give a (not too loud) shout from your verandah. That's where I tend to be (on MY verandah) late at night/early morning (if I'm not in one of the clubs ;-). When cruising, I am both an early riser and stay up late. Why sleep away all that precious time on the ship? And who knows, I <I>may</I> be <I>into</I> exercise a year from now. It's happened before, but I tend to go in spurts! As for the list - if you are adding seating and stateroom, well, you already know mine!

<B>Windermere:</B> One excellent site for tons of digital camera info and reviews is <a href="http://www.dpreview.com/">HERE</A> - when you have a few hours to spend! But don't worry, you'll have plenty of experienced digital photographers on Cruisetoberfest to help you.

<B>jmalk:</B> Congrats on your job interview and best of luck with the next stage. And I'd say that, depending on your stateroom location, trips to the buffet <I>can</I> count as exercise! So can trips to the bar!

Your language is so much fun, it's much easier to play with words in English than in German - Really!!
Good luck for stage II. I already told Anja (DW) that you're a colleague and she's looking forward to talk about it with you - But don't forget: It's a vacation. But perhaps talking about the job may make the cruise tax-deductible ;)

Shari,
I haven't looked at the deckplans yet, but if our verandah is aft of yours, please don't get seasick. You know what a 20knot-headwind may cause in this case :jester:

Nancy,
I would love to give you some tips regarding digital photography, but I think you better listen to Shari. She's a pro and the names of many cameras on the American market are often different from ours.

No, my stateroom is aft of yours. I am in 7628 - the furthermost Nav. Verandah stateroom on the starboard side. You should be two doors <I>up</I> (forward towards the bow) from me if you are in 7624. And don't worry - barring an onslaught of some other illness, I don't get seasick. I didn't even on a dreadful small-ship to the Great Barrier Reef in a horrendous storm as nearly everyone else around me DID ;-(.

Now guys, there is a visual I could have done without.

We will be in 6584. Is this one deck above the lifeboats? How's the location noisewise? It looks okay to me, according to Viking's exercise plan, that's three beers to dinner, (at one beer per flight of stairs) and at least half a piece of cheesecake for making it up topside. I think I can do this.

Tell Anja I look forward to talking shop just a little. At least if I stumble on my way home from the ba..I mean exercise center, she can patch me up.

Jenny: 6584 is a nice location, midship and yes, one deck above the lifeboats. But DCL's lifeboats, unlike other lines, are recessed instead of in-your-face ;) . Noisewise, it will depend on who your neighbors are, because it does have a connecting door to 6586.

hi all--
Viking- All this talk about exercise made me want to go out and ride a bike. So on saturday rose and I will do just that at a close by state park. We WILL be ready by the time of the cruise. Do you think we can bring our bikes on the ship? I really prefer to get my exercise by playing some games, like baseball or handball or something.

Shari- The only camera I have is a little canon ELPH. It's not much , but I like the pictures. there are three print types; Classic, Wide-angle, & panorama. I also like the date & time printed on the back of each picture. Not taking too many pictures I tend to forget when I took them:confused: (" Oh, that kids' out of diapers now! "). Rose didn"t get the last funny

Viking- Seasick? 20 knot-headwind? I told Rose birds didn't fly that far out at sea. ;)

This past spring I went out an bought a Sony MVC CD 200. It is only 2.1 meg pixals, but that is enough for what I want. It is the one that stores the pictures on the mini CDs. Windermere, I too was not interested in the Sony memory sticks. I also had a Kodak DC290, but the battery life on that was terrible. The flash also was very anemic.

The Sony takes both CD-R and CD-RW.

There is also a Sony MVC CD 300 that I believe is a 3 mega pixal camera with a better lens, but it is a few hundred dollars more expensive. Because of the more megapixals it takes longer between shots to write to the CD and you can store fewer pictures on the CD. I decide to save the money for the Spa and get the CD 200.

Dave

<B>Tulirich:</B> The best thing about the ELPH, along with its ability to do the three print formats, is that it is <I>SMALL</I>. It does people little good to have a big expensive camera loaded with features if they feel it's too much trouble to carry around or get it out to shoot. That's why cameras like the ELPH were developed. It is also why so far on cruises I have only carried my digital (although not as small as the ELPH), because it's much easier to tote around than my SLRs.

<B>Cheese Please:</B> I agree with you about the Sony memory sticks. You just never know about proprietary media like that although the cameras are good. As for your CD 200 - what is your time between shots? I'm just curious about the time it takes to write to the mini CD. My Nikon of course uses the CF cards. I used to use Lexar, which was okay. But a friend in Australia turned me on to the Ridata 512MB 20X cards and I've never found anything better. I have several, and am finally able to stop complaining that digitals are slow. No more!

Hello All!!! Especially nice to see Cheeseplease posting!

Okay, I gotta get in with this camera talk too.

My film camera is an Olympus Infinity Hi-Lite. I always have difficulty finding the viewfinder. I think it is because I keep looking for it on the side of the camera and it is in the middle! After so many years, ya think I would learn!

My digital camera was a surprise Birthday gift two birthdays ago (we won't mention what number that b-day was! ) It is also an Olympus, a Camedia D-360L. 1.3 Megapixel, whatever that means! I have fun with it. Only thing is that my computer is pretty much filled to the brim and we need to take the time to put the programs into Richard's new computer for transferring the digital pictures for storage as well as hooking up our scanner to his computer for regular picture transfering.

What I dislike about digital cameras is that you don't have anything to hold in your hands and bring to work to show off. So, I have learned to always use both cameras for important occasions.

Once we get the programs put into Richard's computer, I will be able to print out more pictures for transporting different places or for framing. They come out quite well when I do print them.

I also have stored away somewhere in this house just about every camera I ever owned including the Kodak 110 pop-in film type camera (remember when that was a new innovation?) I don't remember what my first camera was but it involved manually putting one end of the film onto the spool and turning the knob to wind it.

Also, DH has a SLR camera he got in Korea when he was stationed there. I think it is a Canon. When we first met, he loved that camera and used it often. Now, he wants something simple, quick and easy. (No comments from the peanut gallery please!) :o

Nothing in your hands to show people? Get creative! With my digital I can just plug into a television and do an instant slideshow . . however big the TV screen is. I also use ULead DVD Picture Show to create slideshows set to music on a VCD (video CD) that will play on DVD players. The discs are cheap and I make copies for others. I use Presentation Publisher to create multimedia CDs to be played on computers. And I either use photo paper and print any desired photos myself on my Lexmark/Kodak Personal Picture Maker, or I copy the jpeg files to a CD, drive over to Walmart, and they have prints for me in an hour. That's cheaper than printing them myself. To me, it's all easier than everything I do with 35mm.

Shari - Yeah, mine plugs into the TV too. I forget about that. The main problem is my computer. It has gotten too old and bloated with much stuff. Richard's computer is young and fast and he has the CD burner. So, one day we will get it together and move everything over to his and then we will "get creative"! :D

Or maybe you could talk him into buying you <I>your own</I> bigger, better, faster computer. Then you could <I>both</I> get TWICE as creative! :earseek:

You can never have <I>too much</I> RAM or hard drive space!

OK..read all 15 pages from my friends and now must reply...I am working on DH to go on 10/2003 with me, but no confirmation yet. If he says "no" you all know I'll still be there!! I won't be booking for awhile as I will wait for great offer, of course, I'll book through me!! It's great being a travel agent! Scott & Dan... you still need to get with us for dinner. I'm trying to convince Myra and her DH to cruise with us, Kathie probably will not be able t go. Went on RCCL Explorer of the Seas with my niece in June (her college grad gift), but it just wasn't the same! Did W. Caribbean, though, and loved the islands. Looking forward to seeing the all again. Didn't get to snorkle with stingrays due to bad weather in Cayman, so definitely want to do that this time around. Since there is no sailing regatta on this itinerary, we'll have to come up with another "group excursion" idea. Life is good, but busy...Talk to you all again soon.

<font size=8 color=red>TULIROSE</font>

Here I am, sorry I haven't posted lately!

Jean-
Yes we need to have dinner! Its been almost a year, I emailed Myra just the other day, did she get it?

To all:

I still have not been able to open the cruise list! HELP!

Dan

Don't panic, Dan!!
I'll do a Wordpad-Version of the next edition. BTW, I used a different version of MS Word: Last year I used Office 2000 based on Windows 98SE, this time I used Word 2002 based on XP. In the office we still use Word on an NT-System and the new list worked fine!!!
