Shari...checked out that house...to die for...the kitchen was absolutely beautiful (if they were my counters, they would be full of junk) but I wasn't really impressed with the master suite or guest bedrooms or living room..if they have that much money, they should have hired a decorator, IMHO!! Mary Jo
That house has been up for sale for a couple of years now. I don't believe anyone is actually living in it at this time . . not sure. I heard that it is owned by some foreign prince or something. I would imagine his taste to be quite different from Americans. Although I do like a "sparsely furnished" look, I do <I>not</I> like the decor of that house. But again, I think the current furnishings are just so they won't be showing an empty house.

Whoever asked...GoofyNut's computer is up and running...just think that she is trying to catch up!!!

Tulirose....saw where they had the shooting at the NYC City Hall and hope that Rich was out of harms way...have no idea where City Hall is located but I knew it was somewhere in lower Manhatten and I knew that Rich worked somewhere in that vicinity.

Shari...that would explain the sparce look to the master suite and guest suites..I also did like the dining room!! In this economy, who actually has that kind of money unless you were in sports, tv, etc. I also checked out the site on Mark Martin's son and all I can say is WOW...that kid better just hope that his dad keeps winning because I agree with you that any young kid who has that much money that early doesn't appreciate those of us who have to work for a living. Mary Jo

You go Maryjo....I agree and think that we should stage our own silent protest. Everybody wear blue jeans and sneakers...

Seriously, I wouldnt even allow Andy to go out in public with me in ripped up sloppy jeans. I'm just surprised they have a dress code. Besides people nowadays go to church in jeans/shorts/sneakers. Maybe they're just doing this so noone comes on totally dressed down..

Arlene

Dh lives in jeans when he's not att work also. I'm hoping it will be hot out and I can convince him to wear shorts instead.

Norm will be in his sneakers. I doubt that most people coming on this afternoon cruise, will be adhering to a dress code. It's a boat ride and lunch. Plus one of the dinner cruises has hard shell crabs. No one dresses up to eat hard shells. In fact they usually just put newspapers on the tables so you can eat them.

I agree with Mary Jo, try to turn us away.

I need to take time to look at this house. Maybe when I win the Power Ball, I can purchase it and invite you all down for a Dis meet.

Got to get to a meeting.

Nancy

The Oct. 2 crusie is what looks good to me for next year. But I might love the Western so much that we do it again. I will make reservations for next year while on board, so I can get the discount. I would love to see Antigua. Purto Rico was nice, but we went there as a result of the hurricain so I did not have much time to do research. I have been looking at a few Antigua sites and it looks like a very interesting place.

No DIS-cruise for us in 2004 - And probably neither in 2005.

Our plans for the next two years are (Still tentative ;) ):
-4 weeks in the Western USA: 1 week in Denver, 1 week on a Dude Ranche somewhere in CO, 2 weeks cruising through the West: AZ, UT, NM, CO, to see Grand Canyon, etc.
-4 weeks in Down Under: 3 weeks on the the road and a week with my relatives, who live near Sidney.

We still have to decide what to do in which year. I we cruise in the next two years it will be in the Mediterranean and then just for a week or two. Our dose of Disney we'll get at Disneyland Paris.

BTW,
we told DU and our German travel agent, that -under no circumstances- we would be willing to tolerate a hurricane or any air moving at more than Beaufort 4 :jester:

Hi Everyone!!
Mary, Thanks for the list. I have been working on a deck plan map. Stateroom numbers with names of guest on a ship floor plan. But would not want to post it online. (But looking like deck
7 aft is the place to be.)
EriC, Try getting a coffee mug with my name on it. LOL
Nancy, PLEASE win Power Ball. We would love to visit. LOL
Amy, I'm with you, I can't wait to meet everyone!
Later, Ave'

We will be sailing during a FULL MOON!Now I'm really glad we have a veranda!

The house is SO BIG! The master bedroom is 1500 feet! That's as big as my 4 bedroom, 2 bath house!I think whoever buys it needs a ride-on vacume!

Ave, the map sounds great!

Eric, sorry to hear you will not be cruising for awhile. If you ever deside to explore the East coast(besides Florida) of the US, do let me know! Thanks for making the cruise hurricain free! I would hate to miss the Western ports again.

I think the Matt Martin site is cute. Thanks for posting it Shari. I also think there are a lot worse ways a rich kid could grow up. Look at the Osborn family!!!! Mark Martin is a very involved parent, and I think rich or poor, that is what makes the diffence when raising a child.But...I am a Mark Martin fan so I may be a bit prejudice :p . I think he is a class act, a good sport, and from what I have read a pretty down to earth guy (life style aside).I just wish he would win a race!!! Maybe he will do well when we see him run next month in Darlington.

<B>Relling Twin</B> - I certainly didn't mean to sound like I am putting down Mark Martin. He is considered by all to be a VERY nice person in addition to being a great (although unlucky lately) NASCAR driver. I guess he has to spend his money on something, so maybe all those extravagant homes he and his relatives have in Spruce Creek make sense (although they are <I>nothing</I> compared to that "tropical paradise" house!). My only real concern is for his son Matt and the "growing up rich" thing. I'm sure Mark Martin is a good father, but even so it can be VERY difficult to instill certain values in a child when they get nearly everything they want in life. I can see where there would be a fine line between the advantages and disadvantages of growing up wealthy.

but still too rich for me, <B><a href="http://cc-properties.com/N30.html" target="index">THIS is the house</A></B> I would buy if I could afford it. Less than a million! Cheap for Spruce Creek! :jester:

It would still be suitable for a DIS meet! :p

About the vacuuming - I think all the "mansions" pretty much come with a central vacuum system built-in. Guess that makes it easier for the housekeepers!

But back to the cruise! - A full moon? GREAT! I might be spending A LOT of time on my verandah!

Eric - definitly go to Australia. I don't know if you've been there before, but it truely is amazing. Jeff and I went there for 4 weeks for our honeymoon and are set on retiring to Cairns. If you do go and haven't been, please let me know I can give you some wonderful ideas of places to go!

Jen:Pinkbounc

Ave' ....I vote with you on the name and finding things with your name on them....at least you can find things with Eric on them in the USA and UK.....I can't ever find anything with Mary Jo on it...either Mary or Jo but nothing together!!!

Shari...I really like the new house that you posted...I am assuming that this is a gated community? Loved the pool near the lake! We have the Pocono race coming up (this weekend I think..am I right GoofyNut?) does Mark Martin race there? I am not very knowledgeble about Nascar!

Eric...my two dream vacations were Australia and Alaska....I accomplished the Alaska part and just need to save enough money to do Australia..I actually have a girlfriend in Croydon, Victoria (near Melbourne) we were pen pals in grade school and do stay in touch. Don't know if I could handle the air flight though probably would have to be persuaded to spend some time in Hawaii (LOL) Mary Jo

I looked into a trip to Austraila, but airfare to get to the Great Barrier Reef alone for the four of us would pay for 3 weeks aboard the Magic! I think we will have to wait until the kids are no longer interested in traveling with us!LOL!

Sheri, I did not think you were putting Mark down:eek: I know that you of all people know the "inside scoop"! :)

MaryJo, the Pocono race is this weekend. And yes, Mark Martin will be in the race.

I've never had any peoblem finding things with MY name on them!Of couse there were 5 Mary's in my 1st grade class, and 6 in 2nd grade class!!

JenKatt...nice to see you posting!I'd love to hear about your trip to Austraila!DH and I spent our honeymoon in Africa,Spain, France and Italy. 4 weeks of getting lost and having fun! ;)

DH and I have yet to do our honeymoon, so these ideas have been great. We got married Dec 1999 and his job deals with computer systems. There was no way we were going to get out of town. We had planned to do 2 + weeks in Europe last month but when the time came to plan specifics the war had just started. Bad timing. We did a week at wdw and a week on dcl instead. Oh well, maybe next year. We'll have to stop in and see Eric then.

Nancy,
most probably you will come to Europe via Frankfurt anyway, which will autamatically mean that there's a native guide waiting for you :D

MaryJo,
the long flight to Down Under also scares us a bit, but many airlines offer pretty cheap layovers in Singapore or Hongkong, which makes it more bearable. And additionally this provides great shopping opportunities - Especially in electronics and tailored clothing.

Eric,

The flights are not to bad. We have done it to New Zealand and with a stop over in singapore for 3 days is cool.. the hotels there are cheap and shopping was COOL.

But i can tell you more about that tomorrow.

The flight down really sin't bad, but then again hubby and I splurged and flew International First Class. The flight back from Melbourne was 14 1/2 hours, it's the longest (in time) flight you can take in the world. Jeff watched 5 or 6 movies and then some TV.

Australia and New Zealand were amazing. Once you get over the flight, money is easy to deal with down there. The exchange rate for the American dollar is 2:1, i.e. two Australian or NZ dollars for every dollar. That part was great. Plus, the wine is fantastic!

If anyone ever does go stop at Kangaroo Island off the Southern tip of Auzzie. You'll never see so many kanagrros and koalas anywhere else in the wild.

Eric, Anja, Jeff and Gaby...Have a great time at your mini meet tomorrow! Eric remeber to take your digital camera and post a picture of the 4 of you.

78 days to go!

I called my health insuance company yesterday to make sure we are covered while out of the US....we are :bounce:

Hi Everyone,

Thought I better check in. We have hooked up with Matty204 and OKWmeister for a Mini Minnesota Pre Cruise meet at our place for a back yard barbecue on August 9. The kids will be joining us so they can meet one another for the afternoon.
Hoping to keep them entertained with Trampoline and Beach Ball Volley Ball in back yard.

Haven't nailed down the time yet but that day was open for all of us.

We have been enjoying the warm Minnesota summer. Have been up to the cabin swmming and fishing. Our daughters boyfriend Ross is at 2nd in the state for the Pro Am Bass tour out of 100 anglers so we are following him quite closely in the tournaments. This will be his first cruise and he is looking forward to not being under so much pressure. Both DD and Ross
are preparing to go back to college in a month.

?? about the brunch. Is it scheduled for Monday,
October 13th???

Also does anyone know on how many miles we walk on the scavenger hunt. Want to make sure we do not need a scooter but after reading this board that may be a definite advantage!

Eric, since I don't know much about computers, DD will be sending pictures over the weekend for the web site. Thank you for all the work you are putting into this. The anticipation is building for this cruise daily.

Anyone have suggestions for Cozumel, DH would like snorkel there but would like to know the best place to do that.

Thanks, Nancy

<B>Mary Jo</B> - That just-under-a-million house is in my neighborhood. I live in what they call "<I>The Islands at the Reserve</I>." My backyard view is a similar lake, but that particular house is across the street and across the other lake. And yes, <I>Spruce Creek</I> is a gated community. It is the most <I>unusual</I> community I've ever been in, because there are a lot of strange "rules" (You can be written up for leaving your garage door open, because it ruins the <I>appearance</I> of the community. And NO, I've <I>never</I> done that. :p ) John Travolta was "asked to leave" because he refused to abide by several of the rules. I think <I>Spruce Creek</I> could have made a few exceptions, but they didn't.

<B>RellingTwin</B> - Everyone at <I>Spruce Creek</I>, well with maybe two or three exceptions  is <I>extremely</I> nice. People I've never met who live here wave hello at me every time I drive or walk anywhere in the community. The multi-millionaires are <I>not</I> snooty at all!

<B>Eric</B> - Australia is my 2nd favorite place in the world (the 1st being Africa). I spent a month there MANY years ago . . in Sydney, Cairns, Darwin, Alice Springs and Melbourne. FANTASTIC! I wish I could do it again soon but right now I can't afford it. :teeth:
