Now, I've had my first cruise nightmare. I was at the bar talking and ordering a drink, looking through the big glass window out to the ship. Next thing I know the ship is pulling out! And, I'm sitting there chatting with the bartender and the others around. Everyone else was on the ship -- I look at the clock (in my dream) and it is 5:01! Ugh, I can't imagine.

Tulirose, I'm sure we will LOVE Capt Bryan's. We are very excited.

I can't believe it is only 2 more weeks.

I can't imagine being without power for so long. I'm glad it's back on. It's the simple things that matter in life. Water, family, health, shelter and power.

...but, since we are ALL spoiled, have you seen the cranes loading up the Magic in port this morning? They are getting ready for our arrival.

Okay, dd's and I are going to get the suitcases out today and pack everything that we can!! We are so excited!! We leave in 11 days!!

What do I need to pack? Should I plan on taking 1/2 of what I should and either wash clothes or send them out to be washed! To be perfectly honest.....I don't know if I have enough clothes to last 10 days!!

Hope pack less and do some laundry on the ship. The main thing is not to stress out.

Rosemary I was finishing up the last of the secret project last night.

Time to get the big suitcase out of the storage barn and start doing some packing.

Have to get the leaves out of the pool and get it covered and ready to close down for the winter.

Hard to believe that in two weeks we will all be together and on board the magic. Looking forward to this cruise so much and meeting you all.

My darling bride of 31 years is up so I guess that I had better get us some breakfast cooked, dishes washed and some packing started. Mike

Now that I have power back we have to clean out the pool and close it also...along with all of the laundy and many other things.

Oh boy--I can't believe we are leaving to head down there in only 10 days!!!!

I want to take a side trip over to Norfolk to see the Magic in Dry Dock--I was wondering how the shipyard fared with Isabel coming through--but the Magic is still a "go" for dry dock there.

Yes, I'll probably spend part of my day slimming down my luggage too. But this morning, soccer work. I'm the registrar for our local youth soccer club and it's time to send data to the state. I'm LATE!!!! Wanted to send it during the week, but I kept getting updates and all. So, God willing, I won't be posting today so I can concentrate on getting this stuff out. We'll see how long I can stand it.

Cable Dude was at our house for the last 3 hours and has totally messed me up with my packing project not to mention how much it's going to cost me cause we had "cable signal leak".

Mike & Kathy ... Hope no one you know was hurt at the Nursing Home fire - awfully sad cause those patients just can't get up and run at their age.

Bette ... Are you still bringing Bernie? I have made up a "custom" name tag, if he comes.

? - Dosen't the Magic go to Norfolk today for dry-dock?

Rosemary ... Were you able to get the puzzles to print out OK after I sent them again?

Does anyone know what will happen to watching sports on the ship once the ESPN is gone? I need some football!

Back to packing ... AshLee is giving me "the look" and I don't mean a happy face! She dosen't like to see them come out of storage ..... and they say animals are dumb.

dd's are almost packed. I bought them so many new clothes for trip! I on the other hand will have to pack the night before because I have to wear what I will be packing!!

Animals are not dumb......our cat has been laying on my suitcase for two days. He doesn't want me to open it up.

Nice little afternoon shower just went through..........dropped our temperature by 20 degrees.....Mike and Cathy did you cool off up there. The storm that just went through here hit you earlier this AM, didn't it?

Well, hope everyone is having a great day. I am going outside to help DH cut down a tree!

Cathy we did not know anyone that died in the nursing home fire. One of the captain's whose company was fighting the fire had his mother to die in the fire. She was in the room next to where the fire started. She died of smoke inhalation.

I finally got my family to try on the clothes I plan to pack. I now have a short list of things I still need to buy.
I also found some extra layards from last year (16 of them) which I will bring in case I need a few more. They will not "match" the rest of them but "oh well"

Speaking of weather, we've been uncommonly warm here this weekend. In late September, we should be in the 60s and we're still in the upper 70s and near 80. We're told it should be cooling down some though. In the Northwest, very few people have AC as it really doesn't get hot enough for it (but we have great furnaces!!) so we just sit around with lots of fans running and the windows open. Is making it hard to pack though.

Was able to slim down my bag some and haven't even gotten to the clothes yet. Going over my packing list again to see if I can live without some stuff or consolidate with Tony.

Soccer work is thankfully complete so anything else can wait till I get back. I'm so relieved.

So, how come none of the documents mention anything about internet access? Never was interested in this before. When we are on vacation, WE ARE ON VACATION!! However, internet email would be a very good way to keep in touch with teenson who is staying home, alone! Mary, Mike - I know you guys have done this in the past. Can you give me some info? Price, availability, do they limit how many people can sign up for unlimited access, etc. I appreciate any and all info you can give me.

Mike - Also, didn't you (and Art too) recently buy digital camera? Were they video ones? Rich is interested in getting one. Would you mind sharing with us the name of the one you got, the features it has and why you chose that particular model/brand? I would appreciate any and all info you can give me on that too.

If you guys prefer to communicate on these subjects via email or PM's, that's fine with me too but, as you know, countdown has begun and even though as a general rule I leave much to last minute, I would appreciate this info as soon as you can. Thanks again.

Well it rained today which meant the outside work is still to be done. Was hoping to get the pool ready to be closed but looks like that might be next weekend. Ugh. Also need to cut the grass once more but that has to wait til it's dry and it's supposed to rain here again tomorrow. Darn.

Did take my dress to the cleaners though -- hopefully it will come clean -- I'll see on Tuesday. Went and got Halloween costumes for MNSSHP on the 19th as well. Jim still thinks it's too early to get the suitcases out but they are coming out tomorrow because mine has to be fixed. One of the screws keeps coming out of the handle. This is ok when we drive but since other people are going to be handling it on the ship then it does need to be fixed. He's doing that tomorrow although he doesn't know it yet.

We also got another cartridge for the printer -- my brother's colour printer wouldn't print out blue, ours (which I forgot we had) wasn't printing yellow. Have lots of ink cartridges now but needed to buy another holder thingie to hold the ink cartridges in. Thingie is a technical computer term for those of us who are barely computer literate.

Hopefully after dinner we can print out the cruise logo -- unfortunately I forgot to send the scavenger hunt logo home and it's sitting on my work computer.

Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.

I threw a few more things in the suitcase today. I have so much going on the next 2 weeks, that I am going to pack as much as I can and avoid my last minute rush. So far I am further ahead then I normally am.

I know this has been asked a zillion times, but I am ready to put the logo on the T shirts. I just want to make sure I have the right logo with the right shirt. White for Cruiseoberfeast and yellow for the scvanger hunt. Is that correct? I plan to do them either Sunday or Monday night.


Tammy--- I'm glad to see that there is another sports mom out there. I have my final coaching clinic tomorrow. I will be entertaining 120 male coaches tomorrow. In the high school hockey world there are no female coaches in our area. So again I will be the only women with all those men.

We went to visit DS#1 @ his college today. Took him out to lunch and shopping for groceries. He's been in his apartment for 6 weeks now and I was impressed that it was still half way clean. Next weekend we visit DS#2. It's parent's weekend and he has hockey games Sat and Sun so we can at least see him play before we go on the cruise. We will miss 3 of his games while we are away. However, the season is young so will have many opportunites to catch other games.

Fionna--- I'm impressed that Jim will wear a costume for MNSSHP. Norm said he won't dress up. I was just going to back my son's graduation caps and gowns and wear them. I might still do that, maybe he will get in the mood once we are there.

We have window air conditioner and put them away today. Next is to put the patio furniture away before we leave. I also need to call the kennel to make arrangements for our dogs. They haven't caught on yet that we will be leaving. In fact they will need to go to the kennel next weekend for 2 days then home for 4 days and back to the kennel for 10 days. They won't be happy by the end of that stay.

Sue Ellen--- Glad you got your power back.

I forgot the Magic goes in dry dock. So it will be all spruced up for us. Cathy, I thought that one of the bars was going to be a sports bar, so you would think they would have football.

Rosemary--- I had the internet last trip and will this trip. Had the unlimited. I think it was either $89 or $99 for the week. Once you sign on, both you and Rich can use it. You just have to use the same name and passoword. It is a good way to stay in contact with anyone at home. I told both my sons to email if they were having any problems.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. In 2 weeks we will be heading for Key West.

Rosemary I have the canon 10D. It is a digital slr camera. Cathy has the nikon 3100 which is pocket size and does a fine job also. I chose the 10D because you can change the lens, as it uses regular 35mm lens. Rosemary the best site to check on digital still cameras is
