CRT with no princess fans?

I have booked CRT for dinner. Actually, I couldn't believe I got it. We are doing DxDP (unless I change my mind.). Anyway, I have three sons and no princess fans. I am not Princess fan either. I'd rather be the Queen. ;)

I booked it because I thought seeing the inside of the castle would be neat. But, is it? Is the atmosphere worth the 2 credits/ cost, etc? Or should we try something else? In all our years, we have never done it and we almost never go to MK for dinner, because of the lack of good TS.

What do you think?

I think it's fun to see (because who hasn't been curious) but I don't think I would have gone if my dd hadnt been so excited about it! I thought the meal was highly mediocre. You didn't say when your ressie is for but I would try breakfast but skip dinner (personally). There are better 2 TS meals out there.

Although...I should add...it's a great location (within the park) and has good views from the windows.

I don't know if it would be the best dining choice for 3 boys and a DH who may not be as into Disney. As often as we go (and we have a little princess) I haven't gone to CRT since 98. I just do not think it is worth the $$.

There are so many other fun dinners- Hoop De Doo and of course 'Ohana, Mickey's BBQ, Whispering Canyon, Chef Mickey, Coral Reef and you could basically do 2 of them for the same credits.

Definitely not for dinner. My dd loves the princesses, so for us it was a good use of 2 TS credits. It was neat to actually be in the castle, something I had always wanted. However, it is very very very princessey. Each princess is introduced over a loud speaker, guests are given wands, or swords, and wishing stars for a wishing ceremony. It was great for my preschooler (and because I like the princesses just fine in their original film contexts...I probably would've enjoyed it even if she was all grown up.)

Just be prepared for it to be a girly experience. If you really want to do it, to be in the castle - I'd go for breakfast. The dinner fare was not even close to being worth 2TS credits. Most quick service food is way better and I'm not picky.

Yikes! Wow, thanks for letting me know! Maybe we will do Backyard BBQ instead. We are already doing HDDR another night. I don't think the BBQ is going to be 'worth 2 credits' either but at least it sounds like fun for the boys.

On the other hand - why not something that's fun for you?

Since, just as with the Hoop De Doo Revue, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue, and the Spirit of Aloha Luau, CRT is an all-inclusive experience on the basic and deluxe dining plans, and requires two entitlements/credits per diner, dinner is the best value for your credits.

Just to add in, in December at dinner the boys were given plastic swords while the girls were given wands.

Eating inside the castle if a very neat experience. I think it's something worth doing at least once. While the food was okay, the atmosphere and experience was worth it. (We also timed it so we could watch the fireworks from inside. You won't be able to see a lot of the fireworks, but some are visible and it was fun to see them.)

Based on what you've said I'd pass on it. The food is mediocre at best; the apparent draw to the castle is location, characters and atmosphere. Sounds like none of your party will really be into it.

Personally, I can't imagine doing it with boys who don't care about princesses. Its really princessy! Yes, they do swords for the boys but its kind of an after thought. I can't even imagine how bored my boys would have been by the whole thing.

sorry.

Ok, I cancelled it and booked the Luau instead. I think we will enjoy that more. Plus, it includes wine for mom!

I was considering the same thing. My son is 15 and my daughter is 22. Neither one has any interest in princessess, especially my son haha. I thought also though I would really like to eat in the castle and check out the inside. After thinking it over I have decided not to. If the food was outstanding maybe, but the reviews of the food are consistenly pretty bad. It takes 2 table services. I would rather go to Cali Grill. I really don't think it's worth it unless you have a child who is REALLY into the princesses. Good luck and have agreat trip!!

Geez, I'd think a 15 yo boy would have a LOT of interest in princess's.

I thought the inside of the castle was kind of a let down. I wanted more...
Also, it was everyone's least favorite meal. The food was awful and our waiter was horrible. I think it was because we were on the dining plan so he knew the tip was included. Unfortunately, we didn't know the tip was included so we kept wondering why the most impersonal waiter at disney worked inside the castle.
