recently got back from Disney world and we had an interesting experience at CRT. We have been to CRT many times. It's not my favorite, but who can resist dinning in the castle. Anyway, I always feel is a rush meal and not the best interaction (we like the process meal at Epcot more).... But we usually always go back to CRT.

So this year our experience started off pretty good. We did breakfast at 8:20am and arrived a few mins early. The restaurant was not as crowded as it usually feels to us. There really wasn't even much of a wait to meet Cinderella. Our first server seated us.. He was friendly and had a sarcastic sense of humor. I liked him.

When he went to take the orders for our kids, he explained that my 2yr old would not be getting a meal, but she would get a Mickey waffle. We usually have one kid 2 or under with us... I'm fine with them sharing my plate, because that's what they usually do anyway. Other times we have ate at the castle they have also provided a little something for the kids (waffles or pasta), which is always nice.

After our food came out we had a new server. She said the other server had gotten is started for her but she would be taking over. She asked if we needed anything else... I politely let her know that my daughter did not receive her Mickey waffle. She actually started to yell at me... Going off That I didn't pay for a meal for my daughter and she would not be receiving anything! It caught me a little off guard. Her response was completely rude. I told her that was fine, I was only asking because the other server told us he would be bringing one out for her... She acted completely disgusted with me and said a few other rude comments. I did not want to "engage" her and just change the subject.

The rest of the meal she only came over to basically encourage us to leave. (We in no way even tried to bother her... It was clear she was having a bad day). even though we still hadn't seen all of the princesses... She still was trying to rush us out of the restaurant. I know CRT is a popular choice, but this was really uncalled for. The restaurant was not even that full at the time.

Our first server did continue to check on us (I think he even thought she was rude). He brought us a few things like creamer, which she would not. So I'm glad we at least had him there...but I feel bad that he was taking care of more than he should...

Despite our service... The food was the best we've ever had there. I really enjoyed the breakfast meal. My kids always love going to the castle. It truly is so pretty inside the building.

I'm thinking my server was just having a bad day and we happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. However I won't be going back to CRT.

I never expected special "extras" and would have never asked for anything for my daughter had our first server not offered it. I cannot understand why The waitress/server was so condescending and rude over a waffle. I know it's hard to work with the public... And I realize it was coming off a very busy few weeks, but I still expect more. Our service at red lobster that week was 1000 times better than what we received at CRT.

Your experience was unacceptable. I rarely encourage people to send complaints to Disney, but I would do so if I was you. I actually would have addressed the situation there but I think that this is z better late than never situation.

I am sorry it happened to you.

I hope you spoke with management over that treatment.

I see these kind of posts come up and I have to say if you are treated that poorly by any restaurant employee don't just complain about it online make sure you let the restaurant know! Also waiting days later doesn't really help the establishment as the staff can turn it into a he said she said deal. I find when handling it in the moment management can see what was brought over (or not) and the staff that did "come to the rescue" so to speak can also voice how they picked up the slack.

So sorry you experienced that. Hopefully that was just a bad day but it still doesn't excuse that kind of behavior.

I did contact Disney, but I have not heard back from them. I probably should have delt with it there... But honestly I just wanted to leave. I was really just shocked by the treatment. This trip to Disney we encountered some of the best cast memebers ever (and we have been going many years....) However we also met some of the very worst. It was interesting.

I would have asked to speak to a manager. That is completely unacceptable, especially for the price you are paying for that meal. There is no reason that she needed to be nasty about anything. We have only been there once and my daughter was 2 and they brought her out a meal with no problem. I know that it's hit or miss with that but even if it's "against the rules" there is no reason for her to be rude about it. And for her to not bring you out creamer and such is just ridiculous. There is no way I'd be forking out $200+ for a meal to be treated like that. This makes me so mad for you. I'm sorry that what should have been a magical experience for your family turned into such a disappointment. I'd certainly be sending an email if I were you.

Kids do not actually "eat free".
The Server was correct, but still should have offered you the chance to order something.

KIDS UNDER-3 EAT FREE "411":
1) TECHNICALLY, there is such thing as a "kids-under-3-eat-free" policy.
. . . no where in ANY Disney brochure is this mentioned
. . . there is no such policy
2) But, when done per policy, they eat almost free.
3) And, based upon CM discretion, they can eat free.
4) The official rules:
. . . kids under three can eat off the adult's plate
. . . if they order anything, like milk, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . if they order any food, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . this is anywhere, including buffets
5) What really happens:
. . at buffets & AYCTE kids actually "eat buffet food free"
. . . . . . adults could get the food, instead and give it to the kid
. . . . . . the adult could claim it is their plate kid eats from
. . . . . . they might as well have a drink, for same reason
. . . . . . it's tough to determine it was theirs or their parents
. . . . . . thus, kids can have their own plate and beverage without charge
. . at non-buffet, servers can determine if they ordered food
. . . . . . it is easy to tell if they got a drink
. . . . . . the server usually charges for food ordered for the kid
. . . . . . the server usually let's the drink go, but not food
. . . . . . the server, at their own discretion, can charge for beverage
6) So, to wrap-up, in practical terms
. . . at non-buffets, kids under-3 eat without charge ONLY from parent's plate
. . . at buffets & AYCTE, they can actually take food from the buffet table or separate plate
. . . at all meals, items are ordered for the child "might" be charged for them

Agree with others if someone is that rude a manager should be spoken to before leaving the restaurant.

I understand that children under the do not "eat free" but how on Earth is a guest supposed to know the policy when a server offers something for the child to eat? If the "new" server was asked about the "missing" food, all she needed to do was explain that she did not know abaout the offer and take it up in the kitchen. No need to embarrass anyone over a waffle.

Can we blame the second Server for following the rules, when the guest should know better?

We can blame the second server for behaving with a "noticeable" lack of professionalism. WE all know that when it comes to kids eating free, Disney restaurants are all over the place, so a guest should not be held accountable for asking about an item that a server had said would be provided. SHould a guest ask for freebies for their toddlers? No. Should guests be prepared to pay for any items they either order or ask for to feed toddlers? Yes. I an not an advocate for ever asking for servers to break rules to give me anything for free. However, if a server offers my child a waffle, and someone new dies not bring it, I should be able to ask aboaut it and if the offer is not valid, I should expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. A simple "Let me check with Mike" would have averted a lot of embarrassment.

I spent years waiting tables, since I was 12 I helped my Dad and Mom, and was working for the time I was 14. Professional behaviors with customers is never too much to ask, even if the server feels the customer has overstepped the line a restaurant has drawn. When it is clea the line is wicked fuzzy, a server should at least discuss the situation out of the customers earshot.

I don't think the problem is in the fact that the 2nd server wouldn't bring the waffle, the problem is their attitude and how they treated their guests in the restaurant. The OP probably wouldn't have even asked if the first server didn't mention it and even if they did, a simple "the waffle would cost an additional however many dollars" would have been fine. No need to berate the guest for asking a question.

You can't blame the second server for following the rules, but she did not have to be rude about it.

I agree with all of the above. It's not about breaking the rules and getting something for free, it's about the CM being rude and the way she went about it when the OP asked about the waffle.

 Really shocked that this happened at CRT! We have always had good service there. That is totally unacceptable behavior, even if you are having a bad day. We are talking about a Mickey waffle for a child, it should not be a big deal, whether it is "allowed" or not. Especially, after you mentioned the waiter had offered, she should have said she would check with him, and honored it, even if she mentions politely that this is not usually the policy. I cannot believe that any adult would yell and refuse to bring a two yr. old food. I was a waitress, and besides being raised to be polite, you were trained that the customer is always right, and if there is a question about an item, you say you will check on it, and if the customer is not satisfied, than you can offer to get a manager. Besides that you are normally working to get the best tips, so you go over and above to provide anything the table needs if possible. I hope Disney responds to you, and actually looks into it, because even on a bad day, this is probably not the job for her. It reminds me of a couple Undercover Boss episodes, when employees were so rude or inappropriate that the boss had to break cover to speak to them, and on most occasions let them go, since that is not the way they wanted their company represented.

I was in no way upset about the waffle. Nor would I be upset with anyone who was following policy or correcting me if I wasn't following disneys rules or policy. I was however extremely upset with the attitude of the server. i was shocked by her behavior. I have never had a problem with the service at this particular restaurant. This was the 6th time I have gone to CRT. Most of the time they offered to bring out food for my kids who were 2and under. They even brought my 1yr old a cupcake for his birthday (again something I never asked for). So I did not think it was unusual that the first server offered a waffle. I'm thinking the woman was running late and something must have happened before she even got to the restaurant that put her in a horrible mood. Hopefully no one else will have a similar experience.

I was going to ask if you requested seconds on any of your meals, but given the way things went, such a request might have been dangerous.

We had breakfast at CRT last summer and my 2 yr old was given Mickey waffles and milk at no charge. We also asked for two orders of the French toast to share between our party of nine in addition to our meals and it was no problem! My teens also had Mickey waffles in addition to the traditional breakfast. I'm sorry you had a rude server, I would have asked to speak with the manager!
