So I am trying to book CRT for October/early November, for a party of 7. When I look online for a party of 6 I get lots of options. But when I look for a party of 7 there is NOTHING available? I can even find things for a party of 6 during our July vacation but nothing for a party of 7? (In fact I have searched random dates from now through November and nothing available for a party of 7 on any date/time). I called the Dining line a few days ago and the CM said that she could not see anything but what I see, the restaurant was probably full, etc. But I find that somewhat hard to believe if I am offered several times for a party of 6 when I look online . . . thoughts? Thanks!

Well that makes sense to me..seating forseven is pretty much the same as eight..which means a larger table. Have you tried searching for eight..or four and three etc.

I think it might be a glitch in their system with regards to large groups. I tried booking Sanaa for late October for 15 and could not get anything anytime. We called the restaurant directly (don't know if that is an option with CRT) and were able to get a reservation with no problem.

What was odd was I was able to book Crystal Palace (dinner) for 25, Boma (breakfast) for 15 and Le Cellier for 8 for other days. We wanted Sanaa for lunch and as I mentioned the only way we got it was by calling direct.

A couple of days later I needed to add to the Boma breakfast (bringing it up to 20) and the agent said it woud be easier to make another reservation for 5 so that's what we did.

I would book 2 tables (a 4 and a 3) and when you check-in, very nicely beg for tables next to each other. You might have to wait a bit longer to get seated, but they will probably accomodate you that way.

They cannot seat 7 people at a table for 6 because the tables are too close together to just tack another person on the end (and the tabletops are just barely big enough to fit all the place settings...you'd have a hard time fitting another plate on a table for 6...Disney has that space thing down to a just-fit science.) So to get a table of 7, they actually have to get you a table for 8, and they only allow a very few of those extra large tables per each seating time (same is true for very small parties...there's very limited tables for 2 also) They can easily fill all the tables for 4, though, so most of the tables are set for the most likely-sized parties.

I had this same problem when booking Ohana for 6, they had room for 5 but not 6. I kept checking and got what I needed.

I think it has to do with the table sizes. 14 of us are going in October and I had to book a table for 6, a table for 4, and another table for 4.

I booked it on the very first day I could (186 days out) at 5am and started trying to book 7 and 7, but could not...when I tried the 6, 4, 4 I was able to get the exact time I asked for on all three.

The grand gathering cast member told me to just stop by earlier in the day and let them know that we are all together and they should be able to seat us beside each other, but that they do not move tables together there...

CRT only has tables big enough for 6. So, you will need split your party.

We sat 13 on a previous trip they pushed a bunch of table together, so it is possible but there are probably only a few options like this. I would try booking 2 smaller parties and then when you check in, ask to be seated together.

I agree to try and book for 8 people. I have done that many times as we are a family of 7.

Thanks all for the replies! Yes, I did try for a party of 8 as well. In 2008 we did sit a party of 9 together, on the lower part of the dining area, so it should still be feasible, maybe just a glitch in the current system?

They probably just don't have any openings.

We have CRT for 7 in June, so I know they offer that option. But we also made our ADRs at exactly 180 days out.

1) It might not be a glitch at all.
2) Sure, it might be.
3) But, didn't people think that maybe they are booked?

4) From PERSONAL experience
. . . the system allocates tables, not seats
. . . it is possible that all the tables are taken, except 6-tops
. . . in that case, there are no tables left to push together

CRT is the one place they split up our extended family of 8 into 2 4-tops.

It is very likely that all the 4-tops are booked, as this is still one of THE places to eat. Keep trying! People cancel ADRs all of the time.

Thanks everyone! Good points -- they do have some larger tables but not a lot. For now I will just keep looking!
