We have never done CRT before. It will be my DD's 11th birthday and we wanted something special. She is not into princesses but she isn't totally against them either :)

We love BOG for dinner but have that on another night. We will be there in January. Thinking about MK- besides the castle, we could not think of anything else good for a birthday. We do not want to leave the park since we have O'Hana and others dinners planned for other nights. Any other suggestions in MK?

We have a 8:25pm- how does that work with Wishes? Can we watch Wishes close to the Castle (get our spots early) and then make our way into the Castle quickly? Does that timing work?

I am planning on a cake being made for her. Anything else we can do special for dinner for her birthday?

Thanks!

1) Yes, you watch WISHES form inside.
2) But, the view is TERRIBLE.
3) As for other goodies . . .
BIRTHDAY-ANNIVERSARY-HONEYMOON-GRADUATION-ETC Celebrations "411":
1) It is a matter of the CM's personal initiative.
. . . depends upon how much they like you as a guest
. . . it always helps to wear a "Happy Birthday" or "Just Married" button
. . . depends if they feel like doing anything special today
. . . depends upon the phase of the moon
2) CM's can do a lot, or they can do nothing at all as they have immense control
. . . they are under no obligation to give goodies or even acknowledge any special day
. . . they can go way overboard, give lots of gifts
. . . they have A LOT of leeway for what they will or will not do for you
. . . they can see the event if listed on the ADR or hotel ressie and you hope for the best
3) Some of the things a CM can do for free are
. . . table with Mickey confetti
. . . your name/celebration on menu at TS locations (except BOG)
. . . best table location
. . . special personalized menu
. . . character-autographed birthday cards
. . . balloons
. . . balloon animals
. . . wine or champagne or Shirley Temples
. . . room towel animals
. . . appetizers or desserts
. . . cakes
. . . cupcake with candle (almost always available for the asking)
. . . place mats autographed by characters
. . . free appy or free dessert
. . . ride an attraction with a character
. . . personalization items for the Magic Bands
5) Some other items CM's can give for free
. . . room full of balloons and/or flowers
. . . fruit basket or wine basket in hotel room
. . . individual fast passes or booklets of several fast passes
. . . food and snack items (candy, popcorn, sundries)
. . . room upgrades
. . . attraction rides with characters
6) If you really want something special, buy it yourself.
. . . eatery: carry presents in and keep/hide them in a paper bag
. . . eatery: carry a cake in, but, WDW won't prepare, store, or serve it
. . . eatery: order non-decorated cake at the eatery podium check-in
. . . eatery: order decorated cake from the WDW Cake Hotline
. . . room: order special in-room celebration decorating by Disney
. . . room: order strawberries and cream, if resort has room service
. . . room: decorate the room yourself
7) If there are multiple celebrations for people during a trip
. . . do not do separate celebration locations or tables
. . . one person may get an enthusiastic CM and get goodies
. . . one person may get a lazy CM and get nothing
8) Hundreds, or thousands, celebrate everyday at WDW.
9) It is too much time/money for CM's to attend or recognize every one of them.

Thanks- I am not looking for anything free. Birthdays are a big deal in my house and we are having Disney make her a cake for dinner.
Besides us buying the cake- I did not know what other things we can do to make it special for her?

Just looked- Wishes is at 9pm.

We will be there for 10 days and will catch Wishes a few times so watching from inside the castle would be new for us. Honestly- my kids can take it or leave it with fireworks :)

CRT offers several celebration packages though I believe most are geared at younger children.

We celebrated my sister's birthday there in 2013 and I got her this chocolate mousse slipper. It was SO good.

Thanks! Very cute! I googled last night and saw this.
I am still trying to find out what cakes CRT offers.
I would want a specialty cake but not sure if you can get one there. I also saw the simple cake of MM's head.

I agree in MK other than BOG CRT is the place for a bday dinner. We did it for my son one bday when he was younger because he just wanted to know what the inside was like. We got a regular cake that you can order at any restaurant but I brought icing and mickey candles and they decorated it. It was definitely Disney magic and nothing that I would expect but I asked nicely and they accommodated. I gave the CM an added tip for going out of her way as a thank you. Unfortunately he fell asleep. We are doing it again in early Feb. for his 13th bday. Look in the cake thread but last I read you could get a specialty cake delivered or a small regular cake like we did. Be prepared to either leave left overs behind or carry it to the hotel.

Thank you! I did see the 6" cake that feeds 4-5 I think. There will be 4 of us but I am GF. But my DH would eat my slice, no problem!
I like the little tiered cakes the best!
But, she would like the Mickey Mouse head cake just as much.
Thanks- I will take a look at the cake thread. :)

Thank you! I also found the CRT email address and sent them an email earlier.
The automatic response said they will write back in 72 hours but if this is for a cake after December- check back because they are making changes.

Yeah on the cake thread in the last couple pages there has been much discussion on the changes and what the options will be. The good news is that no matter what the options become I'm betting they'll be yummy.

Got the email back-
