Never done a princess meal before. DD who is 4 wants to eat in the castle. What characters are there for dinner or is breakfast a better bet? Also is the princess meal in epcot better? What time do they open for breakfast?

It depends on what princesses are important to your princess. We prefer the breakfast in Epcot to CRT because of the cheaper cost and the variety of princesses. At the Princess Storybook breakfast we usually see Mulan, Sleeping Beauty (DD#2's favorite), Belle and Jasmine. Lunch and dinner includes Ariel which is DD#3's favorite princess. If your DD really wants to see Cinderella then CRT is your best bet. Akerhus starts serving breakfast at 8:30 am and CRT starts at 8:00 am.

Also, at 1900 Park Faire at the Grand Floridiain, Cinderella makes her rounds along with Lady Tremaine, t he step sisters, Prince Charming and sometimes Mary and Perla.

CRT is great if you want to see Cinderella, but the 2 TS charge is just becasue it is at the castle. I will be doing the Epcot one and CRT in May. I will then give a better opinion. Of which one is better.

I like the Akershus Princess meal a lot better than the CRT meal. CRT gets you the castle location, which is a huge draw, admittedly, and a meet-and-picture with Cinderella, which can be a great treat for the Cinderella-obsessed. Akershus has a meet-and-photo with Belle, better food, in my opinion, and a lower cost. It's our go-to breakfast for our first full day at WDW.

I don't think CRT is bad, just that Akershus is better.

So what princesses are there? The curreent favorite is Ariel followed by Belle and Rapunzel.

DD(5) and I really prefer CRT. There is just something to be said about eating in the castle. We have done both CRT and Akershus on our last 2 trips and we have seen the same Princesses in both places. CRT had Cinderella downstairs for pictures, and Snow White, Belle (blue dress), Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel (ball gown) during the meal. Akershuss had Belle (yellow dress) in the picture area, and Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel (Ball gown) and Sleeping Beauty during the meal. We did see Jasmine and Alice once at Akershus back in 2008, but I have heard that they have changed it since then and they almost always have the line-up I listed above now. Others could tell you if they have run across anyone different in either place in the last year or so.

have done all the princess meals, 1900 PF twice - great characters but hated the food and would not return.
Akershus, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Akershus breakfast is the best food of the options IMHO. The ambiance here is rubbish but the value for $$ is brilliant.
however you can't beat eating in the Castle. Even my son loves the castle, who wouldn't want to be seated in the WDW icon of the world. ~The food is good but not great - and people expect the food to be what you are paying for - it's not.

The guaranteed picture of Cinderella is a big draw obviously. We have had various characters here over the years - Mary Poppins, Wendy Darling, Alice in Wonderland, Belle in her blue dress (never her yellow here as far as I know) Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, SnowWhite. Every trip we have had the last three and one other. All the meals are now Princess meals the mice and godmother are gone.

If you are looking for the more unusual princesses then Akershus has Ariel and Mulan sometimes too.

i HONESTLY think everyone should do Crt once in their WDW lifetime. :)

In early December, for dinner the four Princesses upstairs at CRT were Sleeping Beauty (Aurora - pink dress), Ariel (green-ish ball gown), Snow White, and Belle (blue dress). Cinderella was downstairs for the photo package. There seemed to be more interaction between the princesses upstairs and the guests than downstairs with Cinderella.

Because the princesses can vary from day-to-day (and probably meal-to-meal), if you DD's favorite is either Belle or Cinderella, then if you go to the appropriate restaurant at least you know she'll get to see her favorite.

As others have said, the food at CRT is okay, but the location and atmosphere are amazing.

I have eaten at both, and I have to vote for Akerhus hands down. We like the menu better and the different princesses that are there. We also love going to the GF for 1900 Park Fares evening meal. Personally, we go just for the stepsisters....they are a hoot!

We saw Jasmine at both places last year, just so you know. But obviously the princesses at each place do vary. We've always wanted to meet Mulan at Akershus but never have. Guess we'll have to hunt her down in WS this year!

I vote for CRT. Do it at least once. It's an experience you'll never forget (and that you may go back for again, if you really enjoy it!!).
