I've already booked CRT for my December trip. I plan to purchase the DDE when it gets closer. Do I need to let them know ASAP that I will have the card to get the discount? Or, do they just refund the difference at the meal?

When I called the Grand Gathering number, the CM said that I needed to present it at the meal. However, my credit card has already been billed.

So, what's your advice?

it seems like it's credited at the meal. i've called and been told i had the credit but never got it. i did get credit at the meal, but i was also adding an adult so i ended up still owing $25 for dinner.

it'll be less than 20% too as they exclude the photo package from it.

I have heard that they will issue you a Disney gift card for the discounted amount at CRT since the meal was prepaid when you made your ADR. This probably happens frequently as people often wait before getting the DDE card until closer to their arrival time.

I'm in a weird state. When I made my ADR for December, the CM asked if we'd be on the dining plan, and I said no, but we'd be on DDE, and she didn't say anything more, but thinking back when she took my credit card info, she didn't tell me everything was prepaid but it was to hold the reservation, like with other signature meals.

I called back two days ago after I got the DDE card and read another thread that said it was a prepaid meal. The CM checked and saw that we had not been charged, and that we show a balance due - which is what they do if you are on the DDP (if you end up not on the DDP, you pay out of pocket at meal). I don't know if this was an error on the CM's part, or was done intentionally so that I could get the discount without having paid full price up front.

When we were there a few weeks ago we had already paid for the meal so we showed the card to the waitress and she brought us the difference on a gift card. Today when I called to make CRT ressies for July, I told them that I had the card and they deducted it from the price. They said that I will need to bring the card to show them at check in. It just depends on when you get your card. They will refund it if you wait to get the card.
