I booked CRT for my Oct. trip. I gave my card number, and was told it was just to hold the reservation. I was under the impression CRT was a prepaid meal as I've booked here before. Does it make a difference if you're on the dining plan? I wasn't the last time I dined there, but I will be on our next trip.

Thanks!

I've always been on the ddp there. They have always reserved with a credit card in case of no-shows. It is not really pre-paid. When you see the menu, you will see many different priced options. I personally only go when we have ddp so that we are get the best deal (big eaters).

They charge your card immediately when you make the ressie. If you are on the dining plan. They will credit you when go to the meal. I know they charge you immediately as I just made my ressie a few days ago and the charge for 6 people appeared on my card....3 times!!! :scared1: Simple computer error that was corrected, I was charged in full for 6 people. I had the same situation last year.

The princess meal in Norway however is just a hold, they do not charge your card immediately, but will if you do not show up.

hmmmm.... so, if you are on the dining plan, it's just a hold? or they take it out? i'm a little confused now.... checking my account, and they have not taken any money out

I believe they still charge you even on the DDP...whose to say you don't remove the DDP prior to your vacation. Its a holiday weekend...so the charges may not appear on your card for a day or two. I made my ressies last Thurs, they just appeared on my card today.

I too am on the DDP and have been charged the full price, however I have been assured that I will be credited upon check-in at the restaurant as I will be using DDP points.

Wow, that's a change, in '08 they didn't charge me but took my cc # when I called in case we were no shows.

If you are on the DDP when you do it online it will ask your ressie number and the system will know you are on the dining plan. They still take your CC number incase you dont show up. You should not get charged if you are on the dining plan and imputted your ressie number before booking online. If you got charged while being on the dining plan you need to call and get the charge taken off ASAP!!!! This is a mistake on their part! That being said if if you do not show up for your ressie and did not cancel 48 hrs out then your card will be charged. This is all according to the CMs I have spoken to in recent days.

I did CRT on line and have the dining plan. The system showed me amount owed "0" and that it needed a card to for no show. When I looked at my bank account afterwards it shows a $1.00 hold charge - not the full amount. And the bank had a message box showing the charge is normally dropped when it is a hold.

I've had the dining plan each year, and book CRT every year - and have never paid for it before we went.

We have never been charged before hand when on the dining plan. They take the CC# but never charge us. We are dining there again this fall and they took our number but never charged us. Not sure why some get charged but others do not.

Same thing with us. We are using the dining plan for the first time, therefore decided to make an ADR here for dinner. When I called to make the ADR they took my CC # and told me that since we were on the dining plan, it will not be charged to our account unless we are a no show, it was basically for us to hold a table. To be sure, I checked our statement on line the next day, and nothing was deducted from our account (used a debit card).

From what I understood from other posters, if you make your ADR online it will automatically ask for your CC# which will then charge you for the full amount, but you can go ahead and call the dining line and let them know that you are on the dining plan and they will then credit your account....but like I said, that was from hear say so not sure if that is true or not.

I just did SOA online and it showed 0 balance @ checkout, I think you have to 'associate' your dinning reservation w/ your resort reservation by putting in your last name, arrival date, and resort, once you do that it seems to know that you are on the dinning plan and not charge you.

Not always, I made mine online and linked my ADR's to my reservation and it didn't charge me. This year was my first year making my adr's online.

I agree with this.

Last year there was a glitch. Thankfully people came on the disboads and warned of it. When you make these reservations it should show "0" balance due at check out. So when I went on line last year to make CRT and it showed a dollar amount due - I stopped there, cancelled it and did it via phone. Later when I made the BBQ & HDDR ones I was also careful, and thankfully the balance due showed "0" the whole time, so I did it online without a problem.

This year, remembering what happened to others last year - I made CRT, BBQ and HDDR and watched for that balance due. It showed "0", and it did give me a pop up that it could utilize the dining plan (a pop up that wasn't there last year - which was reassuring to see). I was charged a temp holding fee of $1 - three times. One for each ADR, but the next day they all dropped off.

Just spoke to a CM about this he said if you call to make the ADR they are able to input that you are on the dining plan online there is no place for the computer to register that info so when it takes the CC# you will be charged and they will refund your credit card when you show up the day of the meal. He made it sound like the CMs on the phone cannot refund your money without cancelling your ressie:scared1: and trying to re-book it. But I wouldnt risk that unless you have to, seeing as it took me 22 min to speak to a cm because everyone was calling the Dining ressies line. Who knows someone could steal the ressie before your able to re-book it! good luck guys!

Not to argue, but that really is not true. You can talk to several CMs and get several different answers.

I booked all our ADRs on line last weekend - including CRT, HDDR and the Backyard BBQ - it did ask me to log in my reservation # and a notation popped up stating it would utilize the dining plan. So the computer system does know when you link your ADRs to your resort reservation.

I was not charged for any of those 3 ADRs - and I printed off my confirmations, so I do know they went through.

If you are linked to your resort reservation, and it acknowledges you have the dining plan - you should see "0" balance due at check out. If you see a dollar amount due then it did not link to your dining plan and you will be charged.

If you have a Resort reservation or would like to associate your Disney Dining Plan to your dining reservations, please retrieve your resort reservation. (Please be advised that not all restaurants participate in the Disney Dining Plan. Please check your Dining Plan information for participating restaurants.) Retrieve your reservation.

Disney dining plan: You are able to use your Disney Dining Plan at time of fulfillment to pay for this reservation.

You've added the following to your cart: Grand Total Due Today: $0.00

Regardless - if you want to be safe about it, making the ADR by phone does seem to be the best option.

Dato63, that was my experience for Soa as well, it even gave me the choice of cat 1 or cat 2 and the cat 1 had a warning that it was not covered by my DP. I think the important thing is to click on the 'associate' with your reservation and input your ressie data before you book and make sure you see 0 balance due.

Was this with the new booking system though? This is what he said about the new online booking system. so I dont know if things changed with the new system

I'm confused but thanks to you all I'm going to call. When I booked CRT this morning online it did show a balance but I had linked it to our resort reservation (with dining plan). It looked odd to me but I couldn't call then because DD was awake and the whole trip is a surprise for her.

So I'm going to call tonight and get to the bottom of it.

Thank you all!

It would not be the first time CM's were wrong.... just sayin'.

I wasn't booking CRT, but was booking the Luau. I hadn't gotten around to adding the dining plan just yet. (We are DVC and can add it up until the day before we leave.)

Anyway, I went to book the luau BEFORE adding the dining plan and it wanted a credit card # to PAY for the reservation.

So I called Member Services, had the dining plan added, then went back in to make my reservation for the Luau.

This time, it did NOT ask for any money at all. I DID have to tie it to my room reservation so that the dining plan was showing, but that was it. We did NOT have to put down a deposit at all.
