Just back from 12/17-12/26 trip. We were there with our girls age 3 & 6 so sit down meals were not a big priority for us. We focused more on what would be fun for the kids.
Our first day we did lunch at Cinderellas Royal Table to celebrate my daughter's 6th B-day. It was OK but I do not think I'd do it again. It has kind of a formal feel (as it prob should) and did not feel that festive or fun to me. I have to say, though, that my husband and I had the pork meal and it was really very good. I can't even remember what the kids had. The appetizers were kind of a non-event for us. My daughter got some streamers on the table, a certificate, a card for the princesses to sign, and a cupcake with a candle. All the "princesses" made it by our table and we got pictures with all of them. My daughter did really enjoy it, but it did not feel particularly magical to me. Don't want to discourage anyone, it just wasn't my cup of tea.
We did a 8:05 breakfast at Crystal Palace on our second day in the MK. Now this we really did love!! Much brighter and more welcoming atmosphere than the castle. Since we had the first seating we did not have to wait in lines and it wasn't to hectic. The characters were pooh, piglet, eeyore, and tigger. They spent more time with the girls and were much more interactive and friendly than the princesses. The food was good, but we were there more for the experience than the food so I'm not a good one to judge it. This we would definitely do again, it was loved by all.
We had Christmas eve dinner at Boma in the animal kingdom lodge. Really enjoyed it. Got there early and explored. Just happened to get there as they were doing the tree lighting ceremony in the lobby with the South African young people who work there doing a singing processional into the lobby and then talking a little bit about their Christmas experiences in South Africa. OK, by now your getting the picture that I am not a foodie and that's not really my focus in a dining experience. We are really much more into the total package and the food is kind of secondary. They had a X-mas ornament making set up in the lobby that my girls loved and they got their pictures taken with Santa and some Lion King characters as well. We did really love the food at Boma and I ate a lot of prime rib slathered with the Boma mustard which is delicious! My husband is a much more adventurous eater and tried everything. The kids, of course, had macs n chz and chicken strips. Had a fantastic time there.
We did Christmas lunch at Trail's End in the Fort Wilderness campground. Again, fantastic experience and the food was fine. We got there early and did the animal area and the girls went on a pony ride. Had lunch and then walked down to the water front. The girls played in the sand and fed ducks and gulls. Then we took the ferry to MK so the girls could wave goodbye to the castle as we were leaving the next day. We did not get off the ferry, just rode it back. Glad I had switched my X-mas lunch from whispering canyon to this, it turned out to be a really nice, easy going lunch and early afternoon.
At this point I am realizing I am not a good restaurant reviewer, but if you want to know about ambience and things to do around the restaurant, I'm your gal.
