CRT and my Two Year Old?

I was reading the thread about Disney Dining with a two year old, and something occurred to me.

We are eating at CRT during our upcoming trip to Disney. It will be me, my husband, our nine-year-old daughter and two-year-old son. He will be a month shy of his 3rd birthday. Obviously our TA made a reservation for four but we just assumed that we could just pay OOP for our sons meal like you can in other Disney restaurants. Will they assume that he is eating off our plates (which he still may do, depending on what we get and how hungry he is), or will we be given the opportunity to pay OOP for his own meal? Do I need to let them know ahead of time that we might do that?

When comes the time to order the food, if you choose to order for him, I would order there and ask for a bill but I honestely believe you will have more then plenty of food to share with him with the 3 adult meals.

My understanding at price fixed meals under 3 will eat for free. They'll likely bring him a small plate of food.

They will bring him a meal of his own. When we were there in March it was noodles with marinara sauce on the side and a small bowl of grapes & cheese. Plenty of food for a toddler even if mine did prefer to eat from my plate instead.

We just ate there last week and my daughter didn't turn 3 until yesterday. They brought her noodles with butter and they also gave her grapes with cheese when they brought out the appetizers.

I asked about getting her something else since I didn't think she would eat that and the waiter said, anything else (like pizza) you have to pay full price, something like $45. She shared from our plates with no problem.

$45 for a kids pizza - seriously?!?! I'm hoping that's just a typo...

If you do order something for your DD you will have to pay the child price for the meal which is a lot of money for a toddler... it cost between $27 to $33 depending on the meal.

We JUST went to Disney last week and attended CRT at 2:30 pm.

They brought my 2.5 year old a plate of plain, boiled pasta. No marinara sauce or butter or anything, just boiled penne pasta on a plate (they told us it would be plain, so we knew in advance). She actually loved it and there was PLENTY of food from the other 7 of us (6 in my family and my parents) to share with her anyway.

They informed us when we checked in, "Now she is just getting a plate of plain, boiled penne pasta - is that ok?" We said, "yes" and were glad we did. She ate leftover celery, carrot sticks, grapes and cheese from my other 3 kids' plates, as well as mashed potatoes from mine.

When we were there in September, they gave you a choice of two things, I know one was the pasta w/ butter or marinara of your choice, and a drink and ice cream dessert.

If he is under 3 you will not be charged for him. And you won't need to buy him a full meal.

The problem with CRT is it is a fixed price, fixed menu restaurant. If you wanted to buy a toddler a meal you'd have to pay the whole child's price, and it's not a cheap place. They'll bring a plate of something out for kids under 3 - but it's not the same food everyone else is getting. They can share, but you'll have to shell out if you want a full meal for them.

Thanks everyone! Honestly, I think that he would love pasta and grapes, so that works for me. Now we won't have to make sure that one of us picks something off the menu that we know he will eat, if we don't want it.

In other restaurants, we will just order him a meal probably (and budgeted to do so). He enjoys eating too much not to.

We dined at CRT back in Dec. DD2 was given a plate of buttered noodles for her entree and her own build your own cupcake for dessert...COMPLIMENTARY

It would be the full price of a child's meal. I just looked it up, $30.99 for dinner (plus the tax and gratituty, what ever that total comes to). Our waiter just blurted out a figure in the $40 dollar range when I asked about getting my daughter a pizza.

Plus an extra $2 on the child's meal if it's peak time and the seasonal surcharges are in effect - I'm pretty sure they apply to CRT as they apply to all fixed-price restaurants.
