Crown Point IN/Carmel IN

Ok so it is defient we are moving to Indiana on/around the first week in January. Now it's up to me to find an area to live.

Here is what we want:

A community type development that we can possibly rent a house in.. you know the homeowner assoc. type with sidewalks and kids and stuff...

Near a city but only for convience of flying and stuff so within an hour

Small town but has the basics such as a petco, target, walmart etc.

There are a few offices throughout the state that I can move to, so that's not much of an issue now...

Have you flown up there to visit yet? This would be the best way to get a feel for the town.

Crown Point and Carmel are nowhere near one another. You know that, right? Crown Point is way up by the Chicago area and Carmel is a suburb of Indy. I don't know much about Crown Point, but Carmel isn't a small town. It's a sprawling upperscale area with all of the traffic and headaches that go along with it.

Dodie is right that Carmel is sprawling and busy. There is so much going on there right now with new roads, new malls that it will probaly get worse. But we are still looking to buy there. Our daughter and her family live there and love it.

There are so many different housing developments there and in so many of them after you are in them, it has more of a small town feel but you are still close to every kind of activity and shopping you can think of.

I know nothing about Crown Point except where it is located.

Crown Point is a pretty small community but it is very near (10 minutes or so) Merrillville and Schereville which both have the stores you are looking for.

The closest airports would be the Chicago airports, if they ever get around to building the 3rd Chicago airport out near Peotone IL you would be very close to it. I don't know much about their school system, but I do know the property taxes for the houses we looked at there were enormous -- around $10k a year for a standard 3 bedroom 2 bath house. I know they have a Catholic school and also a private Christian school.

They seem to have good youth programs. My son's have played Fall baseball in their town for the past couple of years. You might also want to check Lake of The Four Seasons and Cedar Point, I've heard of several people moving there lately into new developments.
