So I am getting everything together, and we think end of August 2008 is the time to go! :cool1: We have to wait till May because DH isn't eligible for vacation til then. I really would rather not do May because of school and that being the end of the year- if their grades are slipping, I don't want to reward them by taking out of school for a week to go to DW. June and July are out for DH because of work business. So we are looking at August, September, or October. I prefer not Sept or Oct because of school. Soo..we are thinking end of August. Crowdwise, is this a bad time to go? We are thinking Aug 25-29 2008. DW.com has that same week (right before Labor Day) listed as a wonderful week. And pricewise, it seems like one of the best times to go. I don't care about the heat as much- we live in VA, we are used to being hot. :rotfl: I just don't want to waste a once every 5 years trip on a time that will be too incredibly busy to ride anything.

We have been to WDW at that exact time period several times although not in the last few years. But when we did go it was GREAT! LOW crowds! Still really hot and it rained every afternoon at 3 for an hour :rotfl: . But walk on to all the rides, no problems with reservations although that could be different now with Free Dining. It is a very enjoyable time to go.

Thank you! Just what I wanted to hear! I remember the raining for an hour when I was a kid, it was so much fun splashing around in the disney ponchos for an hour! And then the sun comes out and everything is back to normal!

the Fl kids are back in school so that should help a bit on the crowd. :cool1:

yes, the rains are kicking. just take cover when the lightning starts. we had a really bad storm last night-so please take cover and get out of those pools!:scared1:

Drink lots of water :thumbsup2

#1-enjoy your vacation!

So if we camp at FW in late August where it rains every afternoon at 3, do you all think a popup would have enough time to dry out overnight before we pack it up in the morning, or would we have a stinky, mildewy mess by the time we tow it 1000 miles back home to air it out in Texas? :confused3

TIA for any advice!

We were there last August 16-27 and it only rained once. It rained for about an hour in the late afternoon - with the heat, everything was dry by early evening.

We always have to air everything out once we get home. Even if it's not raining, the humidity will make everything damp.

We just returned from our trip. Got there on August 12 and left for home August 24. Not a drop of rain the entire time! I couldn't believe it!

Well, the rains are kicking now. It's rained everyday since friday due to a low or a high over the state-take your pick. the lightning has been nasty. It starts about 6 or 7p and goes the rest of the evening.

Remember if you are parked in a shaded spot the popup will not be completely dry by the 11am check-out. Especially if it rains hard. ;)

We're heading back friday for Labor Day weekend!:cool1:

We just got back today. FW seemed half empty to us. Never have seen that few ppl at FW. Thought this is a great time to go. Alot less ppl everywhere. The rain can be hit or miss. Everyday thunderstorms or no rain for a week. We had a shower or storm every every evening this particular weekend and it does cool things down for sure.

The end of August is a really dead time at Disney, you're picking a great time to go if you want low crowds. You're still going to have the heat/rain to deal with, although this year the heat/rain doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as in years past.

Most places will be empty at this time because it's just as school is starting back up, so you're not going to get a lot of the family crowd. In fact, pretty much up until late Oct/Nov the crowds will be definitely in your favor! This along with Jan/Feb are some of the slowest times at Disney.
