I know this usually isn't much of a question, but I am going to find myself in the area for business in May, and I have a choice. The reason why I'm on the fence is due to the considerations below:
  • PP room is Theme Park view vs. DLHotel Standard view
  • Seeing DL fireworks from room or from PP pool area is a major plus at PP (if possible - is that really a thing?) Won't see squat from DLHotel.
  • Proximity isn't an issue. I can walk anywhere.
  • Stayed at DLHotel 10 years ago (before last refurbishment). Never stayed at PP. Like to try new things (only if it's worth it).
So, what do we all think? Thanks in advance.

If you're big on views from your room, go with PPH. That theme park view cannot be beat, in my opinion. You can't really see the fireworks from the room, but you can see World of Color from the room.

My vote is for PPH, TPV. While you may not be able to see the fireworks from your room, you can go to the viewing area next to the pool.

It's been many years since I've stayed at PPH, but I was blessed with incredible views a couple times. I have to say the best views I've ever had were at that hotel (with some VGC rooms coming in a close second).

I love the DLH. I have stayed there twice and stayed at PPH this past Dec, but it was in a standard room so no awesome view of DCA. I would chose DLH over PPH any day, but for I think it's because the pool area at DLH is far superior to the one at PPH. I also just love the feel of DLH over PPH and the newer rooms are very nice. There is a chance that you could get a view of the fireworks if you ask for it. A few years ago I booked a standard room (via Orbitz) and then called to put in my request for a room on a high floor with a fireworks view and we got it!

PPH hotel with a view. Its spectacular. If it's in the budget check into adding concierge when you arrive. We were able to add it for a steal of a price.

Normally I always prefer the DLH over the PPH. However, given your list of considerations, I might go with the PPH ... especially if view is one of your main considerations. Theme park views at PPH can be awesome. You *can* get fireworks views at the DLH, but not guaranteed. More than once I've requested a specific area of the DLH for this reason but have not been given a room where requested. However, if you book theme park view at PPH, you get theme park view.

Thanks, everyone. I think you're confirming my hunch. Keep up the input!

Is the viewing area near the PPH pool any good? Does it get crowded at night?

We've only used it once and although you miss out on the castle or Main St. projections, the view is still pretty good. DS is not a big fan of either the crowds or noise so it worked well for us. We arrived maybe 20 minutes before the fireworks, grabbed 3 comfy chairs and it was perfect for us.

It's "Remember...Dreams Come True" - does that have Main Street projections? (I know "Disneyland Forever" did.)

It's decent. And it depends on the night as to whether it gets crowded.

Thanks for the video link. That'll do!
Is the viewing platform on the roof? The pooldeck?

If you choose PPH, request a room 9th floor or above. This will get you above the trees.

It's on the pool deck, which is on the 3rd floor, if memory serves.

As for the main street projections on the new RDCT... good question. I've never been able to get someone to answer that for me. I know they're doing projections on the castle but have yet to see a main street view.

We did DLH in January. I really missed having a balcony. Not sure if PPH has balconies, but if it does that's where I would suggest. Plus, it rained while we were there so our wet clothes got musty smelling and not being able to air out the room was horrible.

No balconies.

I love the DLH, even with the standard view. Love it. But if a view is important to you then Theme Park view at PPH is amazing and definitely fits the bill. We could see both the fireworks (at an angle) and World of Colour from our PPH room and with the sound track on the tv is was like our own private show.

I voted PPH since you've never stayed there and watching nighttime shows from your room or the hotel is important to you.

However, it pained me to do this since I stayed at DLH in February and love, love, LOVED it. (That said, we've never stayed at PPH, so I wouldn't know!)
