I am very new to these boards - my first two posts being test posts, lol.

I was wondering about the crowd levels during September. I have heard that doing WDW during the September months is a decent time to tour.

Also, I was wondering if the free dining plan in effect would affect crowd levels as well...

Is anyone else going during this time?

Welcome to the DIS!

Free dining or not, September crowds are among the lowest at WDW. Any time schools are in session crowds will not be bad.

Free dining has a big impact on the table service restaurants. Even though crowds will be low, you should make your ADRs as soon as possible if you have not made them yet.

Enjoy your trip!

We went last year in September and we are going again this year. Lines were minimal last year. The only thing I remember having a long line in the middle of the day was Soarin' and that was only about 30 minutes. Of course it was still pretty new then. We got right on first thing in the morning.

Go and enjoy the free dining. It is an unbelievable deal. I kept our receipts from last year. I think we had over $1500 in meal receipts. That's a huge savings!!

howdy to Phantomatt from loriandmatt!

yes, Sept will be lower crowds than just about any other time of year at WDW. Yes, you will feel some impact from the free dining promo, i know several families from my area that are making a trip just because of this promo - BUT and note that is a very big BUT....is still will be quite light for crowds. the biggest impact (as others have noted will be for sit down restaruants. make your ADRs as soon as you can.)

for brooke1 about labor day. have been there over labor day before and will be there again this year. during the week before Labor day weekend and during the week after - not many crowds at all - pretty light actually. very nice. during the weekend itself (including monday) pretty darn crowded with locals. and holy cow - the water parks that weekend are nuts!

we take the weekend pretty slow - lay off the parks, hang at the resort, do some off property sight seeing/activities and shopping. other than that, a great time to go.

- lori
