Crowds weekend before Christmas vs End of June?

Planning a trip for 2018 and trying to decide our dates. Due to various circumstances, we are down to sometime at the end of June or the Friday and Saturday before Christmas. I know both of those times will be crowded but is one better or worse than the other? Thanks!

Last year, the days leading up to Christmas were very empty according to what was posted here. I'd see if that happens again this year and then decide. Most APs are blocked then and it seems like people visiting Disneyland for that time of year want to go after christmas day.

Was it really empty? Or less crowded than expected? Lots of APs are blocked in June as well.

I’m debating the same thing. Actually the week of December 18 vs mid June. Pros and cons to both I think. We may go both times :yay:

From reports here, it was not crowded at all. I'd love to go this year, but I got a job in retail recently and that's our busiest time. So, I'll be working every day except for Christmas day.

If my decision is based solely on crowds hands down i would choose June. Now we have gone the week leading up to Christmas before and we went in July last year. We definitely enjoy and would choose our very crowded December trips over a very hot June trip. We love seeing the holiday decorations and enjoy the atmosphere in the park during those days. We enjoy the park whether it is crowded or not, but the heat stresses me out. There are many pros and cons for going on certain days, it all depend on what you want to do/see and what type of experience you want.

Is it packed calendars show that last year, the 21-23 were pretty empty. I remember reading that on here as well. I am curious to see this year if it was a fluke or not. I second the opinion to wait and see what happens this year.

Tink said it best.

Summers seem to be very manageable crowd wise. But then there's the heat. And also, there's a reason it's so busy in December...the holiday season brings amazing decorations, entertainment, and a very magical feeling to the parks. I went during the holiday season last year, but in November, and I also went this summer in August. Both fun trips but the holidays are just magical. So it depends on what you're looking for. Now, I haven't been in December. This is my first year going so close to Christmas so maybe I'll say differently after, but I've prepared myself for heavy crowds with reservations, tours, preferred seating, etc.

Not comparable at all, that was a Wed-Fri & lots of schools were still in session during those dates last year.

June. ABSOLUTELY. No way would I touch those Dec dates with a 10 ft pole. IMHO, the Fri might be manageable but kids will be getting out of school and the crowds will descend by Sat seeing as Xmas is Tues. Watch for crowd reports from the weekend before Xmas this year to give you an idea of what it might be like, I could be wrong- it's been known to happen!

If you do June, I would do June 20-23 or June 29,30 as SoCal AP's are blocked then. June 24-28 will be really rough because those are the last days before SoCal AP's are blocked for the whole summer. Some years back I was there in June on the last day before AP summer block and it was crazy town busy.

Aren't you going the weekend before Christmas this year?

Oh nevermind, you're going the weekend BEFORE, right? Same as me??
ROFL- yep, close to you but during the week! :) Checking in Tues and leaving Fri as the rest of the world preps to descend upon DLR, we'll definitely be out before the real crazy hits!
