We are going October 10-17 & wondering what the weather is typically like, also wondering since this week isn't a week that free dining is offered if its a less busy week?

I'm going that same week!, average high is 84 and average low is 66. It's Florida, so rain is always possible, but it's not their rainy time of year, so you shouldn't usually get daily afternoon storms or big rainouts. Unfortunately I think the reason for no free dining is because it already is reasonably full. All the crowd calendars I look set say moderate to low on some days.

It is the food and wind festival at Epcot and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in MK so particular days will be very crowded or less crowded in those two parks depending on party schedule.

We went that time last year & all the parks except AK felt crowded & we are AP holders so we hopped around a lot. The weather was quite hot & humid. Don't remember any rain though.

We have been in October a few times and would say it is our favorite time to visit. The weather is warm enough for the kids to swim without being oppressively hot!
I don't think we will ever see the empty parks in October like they used to be but still a great time to go.

Been several times during that month. It is our favorite time to go.

Weather Variable. It can get very hot and be either dry (by Orlando standards) or humid. It can also be pleasant with a high in the mid 80s. Or it can be rather cool and wet. It all depends. It has never totally frozen during that week for us. The most we've ever needed is a long sleeved pull over. And most of our trips, we haven't needed even that.
It is not a less busy week than free dining. Hence why they don't offer free dining. Quite a few schools on alternate calendars take their fall breaks over this week. It will be a bit busy Friday the 10th, Saturday the 11th, and Sunday the 12th due to Columbus day weekend. But nothing close to Christmas or Spring Break Busy. People from schools that were off the first week tend to hang through that Sunday and the ones off that second week tend to arrive Friday rather than Saturday. After the weekend, crowds should drop considerably from that for Monday the 13th through Friday the 17th. I try to go to MK during the lighter parts of my trips If I am planning to partake in the Food and wine festival, I also try not to do that in the evening over the first weekend of your trip. Crowds are heavy and can make it difficult to even get around world showcase. And not only that, you also tend to get a less family oriented crowd and much more of the wrong sort during that weekend.

The second half of October is our favorite time to go. We'll be taking our 3rd October trip later this year. The weather has been fantastic during our first 2 trips. Daytime highs were in the 75-80 degree range and the nights were very comfortable too. We could do anything we wanted to at virtually any time of the day and not worry much about the weather.
It seems like the Orlando area begins to transition away from the worst of the humidity somewhere in the mid-Oct to late-Oct. time frame. It can still get into the mid-80's rather easily but I believe the humidity begins to back off around this time of the year. Florida residents know better than me but that is the impression I got regarding the weather.
Manageable crowds and great weather are the two biggest factors for us choosing October. Have a great trip!

We've been all different months including HOT August & September, so I'm sure we can handle what October brings then, lol
I was more concerned with crowds with people thinking the same way we did by our DD not missing a full week of school with being closed on Columbus Day. Hopefully the crowds are gone by the weekend!
Thanks everyone

Weather is awesome. Around 80 in the day and then cooling off to high 60's, low 70's at night. We found it to be less humid the times we were there as well. Crowds are usually lower for non FD weeks or at least they were in the past. You are still far enough from Halloween week that the crowds should not be bad any way. Have fun.

We have recently been there twice in October. This past year, we found it hotter than before and the crowds busier than before. Nothing like our May - June trips, but was surprised.

We tested FP+ and had no problems with the crowds (we got to double dip too).

We enjoyed both water parks and got a great tan to show off when we got home to the cooler fall weather of Kansas.

Enjoy!

We have had 4 trips during the 3rd week of Oct.

It is usually mid 80's, but still feels hot due to the humidity. One year we had record breaking heat- had temps in upper 90's the whole week. We would walk out the door in the am, and the temp would already be 86! We kind of melted that week, but still had a great time, just drank a lot of water!

It is still pretty crowded at that time, but we rode all rides multiple, multiple times with Legacy FP. AM EMH was awesome, we could do all of fantasyland in first hour.

That really sucks...as we selected 3rd week in October for the warm but not humid weather (and less chance of rain) and lesser crowds. When I looked back in Feb, it was showing 3 bars for crowd level. And then after we booked, I found out about school fall breaks (I'm from Canada so had no idea)
