Last year DD danced in the Christmas parade taping and we were surprised how low crowds were (2-3) and loved that very few things were closed since most new and "closed" rides were doing soft openings preparing for Christmas rush. I was wondering if this was the case for Universal? We haven't made it there yet and my kids get an extra day off that week so it would be a great time to go.

It will be slow starting 12/2 and continue to be slow until 12/21 or so when the holiday crowds start building.

You are absolutely right...it IS a great time to visit!

Thanks!

I figured this would be the case but you never know til you ask.

We thought it would be a slow/great time too - but when we booked our hotel (Royal Pacific) the guy on the phone mentioned the hotels are pretty booked for the week we're going so we're wondering just how slow its really going to be. :scratchin

What week are you going? I don't know of any conventions going on or special events at the parks. The only night I know it will be busy is 12/7 which is the first day of the holiday festivities.

we're going 12/6 - 12/14. im praying for low crowds for the bulk of our stay (i can deal with a busy day or two...we'll just hit the pools and sleep in those days ;))

Yeah...you shouldn't have any issues those days. The weekends will be busier but during the week will be slow.

there are conventions going on all the time for rph bookings.
with my january trip booked there, i had a heck of a time getting one of my nights due to a convention filling up certain types of rooms in one tower.

no, not going at the end of the month for the potter gala, going earlier in the month.

the parks can be low crowds but the hotels can be full due to conventions.
