How bad are the crowds? We are going Sat the 17th thru the day before Thanksgiving. And do most schools get that entire week off? Thanks! ;)

Expect huge crowds and then be pleasantly surprised if things are better than that. I would put Thanksgiving week on par with the week before or after Easter as far as crowds go. Those are the two busiest weeks of the DL spring break season. The busiest time of the year at DLR are the days from Christmas through New Year's. Thanksgiving week isn't quite as intense as that. It does seem that many school districts now get the whole week off. My kids' district and many others in this area do, and we live in northern California

It will be busy, we will be there Tuesday-Sunday. Get there early, use FP, take a break in the afternoon. Think about where you want to eat Thanksgiving dinner now and make a reservation 60 days outs.

OP actually won't be there for Thanksgiving Day, but looking into dining reservations for the week is a good idea. I usually like to have one per day at really busy times as a just in case it's so crazy busy and we need a place to go. I just cancel the reservation if plans change when we're there.

Thanks! We actually won't need ressies cause we don't plan to have any "sit down" meals. We go several times a year, but this is our first time going right before Thanksgiving. Our original plan was to go the week after, but DS does not want to miss any school (go figure).

Lately we go every year at "Thanksgiving"; we've been in the parks on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday before Thanksgiving (our kids out of school) and we've been in the parks Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday after Thanksgiving (our kids having to miss 2 days of school). We won't do the days before again, unless we just have no choice -- all those days were REALLY busy, but we found only Friday and Saturday after to be horribly busy -- Sunday after not too bad, and Monday after just wonderful! Of course, I know OP only asked about the days before, but thought I'd thrown in our experience on both sides of Thanksgiving!
