We're heading down to Disneyland on Thursday, October 22 - Monday, October 26th. Any idea what kind of crowds (waiting time for rides) we're looking at? Is it still pretty busy or slower during that time of year?

Thanks! :)

Definitely slower. I've been there in October quite a number of times. I don't remember there ever being huge lines at Disney on any of those trips, except for maybe the weekends. You should have a really great time but for Saturday remember to get there early because EVERY Saturday there is crazy. Get there early to get your fastpasses that day.

We will be there about the same time! I guess my philosophy is expect it to be busy and either you will be prepared or you will be pleasantly surprised! I have heard its slower, but there really is no way to tell, especially with the birthday promo. I can't wait!

Normally it is not too busy. There will be people in town for the Halloween event though. Saturday is low turnout then around the second hour it starts building to crowds and longer lines. I love that time of year and am going the 24th for my 50th anniversary at DLR.

if it's the same as disney world, you should be fine. been to florida in mid oct. and late sept. into oct. and both trips were relatively slow line wise for what i have heard about. the last trip we made was in i think '04 from sept. 25 to oct. 2 and the longest wait we had was probably 30-35 minutes with most rides around 15, and some good rides where you could turn right back around and go back on. best time to go, nice choice.

Well it was SUPER busy the October we went a couple of years ago. And from the posts here, it was last year too. Lots of schools out for fall break, events going on that month, as well as the Halloween parties.

We won't do October after that, it was even hard to walk, not to mention the long lines. Maybe later in the month is better, I think we did the 9th-13th. But I'd just plan for crowds if I were you.

We were there last October and it was CRAZY busy! We've been several times, and this was the busiest we have seen. It was literally shoulder-to-shoulder down Main Street!

Keep in mind too that Thursday, Friday, and I believe some Saturdays DCA will close down early for the Trick or Treat Party, which means that DL gets all that crowd too for the evening.

The people who are saying October is slower either haven't been in the last few years or only went on weekdays. I've been the last 2 years in October and the weekends are just as busy as the summer. This didn't used to be the case. October used to be incredibly slow (I remember riding Space Mtn 13 times in a row without even getting off about 10 years ago in October...those days are long gone). The weekdays aren't as bad though. I still prefer October over the summer because the decorations are cool and, even though the weekends are crowded, it's not as hot as the summer so the day is more enjoyable. With the exception of the crowding that develop for the fireworks and Fantasmic, the crowds don't bother me. If you use the fastpass system effectively you can get in enough rides to satisfy yourself.

We went to DL last year the third week of October. It is a great time to go weatherwise. Now for the crowds, well it was pretty busy because of the Trick or Treat party at DCA. Lots of people. Our school was out for fall break. If you do some planning ahead of time, i.e. get the parks at opening, use fastpass, leave DL and go over to DCA when DL gets overly busy - mid afternoon, you should be fine. We will hopefully be there the week before. That is when our school will have fall break. We asked our 16 year old where we should go for break and she quickly responded, "Disneyland!!!." We must have done something right! :thumbsup2

My family is planning on being there the 20th to the 28th in october. I have heard the weekday crowds are fine....however the weekends will be busy...

We plan on using 5 days in disneyland the first 3 days will be weekdays so they can see everything and then go on weekends for the extra stuff like fireworks and things....

Now how well this will work is anyones guess but I am hoping almost walkon rides durring the week.
