Crowds Question

This is a question for people that go a lot to WDW. We were there for the May 24 hours of Magic. Needless to say, it was a crowded day. Anyone who was there during the day and night, is that what a typical summer day is like in terms of crowds? We almost always go mid-May and are happy w/ the crowd levels. We were satisfied w/ the number and quality of rides we were able to get on.

It felt like it got more crowded as the day went on during the 24 hours of magic, and everything seemed to have long, long lines (at least compared to what we had Monday through Thursday that week). At night, it almost seemed like everything had a 60 minute or longer wait time.

We'll probably stick to mid-May if that is what summer is like.

We were there for the 24-hr MK day in May too, and I agree it was crowded, especially at night! We left between about 3pm-9pm and noticed a definite difference when we returned. However, actually I didn't think it was as bad as it could be. We still got on lots of rides, and since we didn't have an agenda, we really enjoyed it. We were pooped by about 1am and headed back at that point, so I don't know whether crowds thinned out during the wee hours.

Typically we travel in mid-to-late August due to school schedules of my DDs and DH (teacher). We find that time of year to be much less crowded than the 24-hr MK day was, likely due to the fact that many parts of the country (including FL, I believe) are back to school by then.

This year, we are travelling at the end of our AP term, so 2 weeks earlier than usual: late July into early August. This is peak time and no one is in school (plus I believe I read the BTGs may be there?), so we are prepared for crowds. My hope is that the crowd level will fall somewhere between what we saw on the 24-hr MK day and what we are used to from late August. I will be interested to read other replies to your questions!

We wanted to stay later, but ended up leaving around midnight as my DD was starting to fade, and was not interested in waiting in long lines. It was our last night there, so we wanted to make the most of it, but weren't sure it was worth it w/ those crowds.
