Crowds on 4th of July

How packed are the parks on the 4th of July? Do they ever hit capacity and turn people away like they do over spring break? And, which park would you recommend going to (not necessarily for fireworks)?

MK very often does reach capacity on July 4 and then by afternoon. Others generally do not but they are packed too. MK has the night fireworks extravaganza and that is one of the reasons it fills.

I've read that July 4th is one of the busiest (if not the busiest) day of the year. I have never been there on July 4th though, so I can't tell you for sure. However, it just seems like that if it is one of the busiest days of the year, it would reach capacity. I'm no expert though! good luck!

We have been to the parks maybe 30 times and I am afraid to say the most crowded I have ever seen it is on a 4th of July. Even at mid night it looked like Main Street was packed wall to wall with people. But If that was the only time I could go, I would still go crowds or not crowds. You just have to not let it stress you. Just try not to plan to accomplish too much but ENJOY what you are able to see.

We are there almost every July 4th and MK always closes for capacity reasons. We even were there one year when Epcot closed for capacity(although it did not seem so packed until illuminations. This year since we are traveling with very little ones we will probably avoid as much of the crowds as possible(meaning sit by the hotel pool)

My mother-in-law went a few years back and said it was wall to wall people at the MK and the heat was unbearable. She swore she would never go back. We had read about this from others and have always avoided that time of the year..smjj

we usually plan our vacaton to avoid going on the 4th but this year we decded to see how WDW is on the 4th of july. from reading about the capacity crowds that are the norm i think this may be a one year experience but still looking foward to it anway.

i know that MK will be surely closed due to capacity so we are planning to spend the evening at epcot after spending the mornings at the hotel getting checked and settled in . hopefully epcot wont be so jammed that you wont be able to enjoy illuminations. but hey, its the 4th and crushing crowds are a definite so i plan to make the best of it and enjoy our nations birthday and celebrate with my family in the best place to be..... WDW!!!

We were at MK on the 4th in 2003.Those were huge crowds. We left the park and went to MGM and it was much better.
