Hi, putting together a last minute trip to Fl. Our choices are week of May 29 or June 5. When does school end in Orlando?

Any comments on crowd levels either week?

Thanks,

herc.

Memorial Week is busy, usually until the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Normally, the crowds aren't too bad the first week of June-- we've done that for the last three years. It does get progressively busier every day, though-- it's usually noticeably busier on June 10, for example, than June 1.

Just FYI. The first week of June is when they have the "Gay Days" at various Disney parks (I could be wrong about the exact dates, but I think it is roughly the 1st week or 2nd week).

As far as crowds are concerned, they aren't too bad that first week.

Ok, thanks for the all the info.

Anyone else?

DD17 and I usually fly out at the beginning of Mem weekend (that Friday) because it the last "day" (only 1 hour) of school. We love this time and don't think its crowded. We also don't do "commando" touring. We go early to a park, leave about 11ish (nice lunch and "rest" at the pool) and return to a park around 3 or 4.

The weather does seem to noticably change on the 1st of June! To us, it gets way more humid! Lots of schools get out at the beginning of June so we want to go when there's more of a chance of fewer people.

I will also say this..........we avoid MK on the day that's designated for the gay community BECAUSE it's very crowded. The other parks don't seem to get the levels. We are not homophobic. We are crowdphobic! AND for those that "worry" we have never seen any inappropriate behavior from same sex couples...............and have seen lots of gross stuff from hetero couples.

Our experience has been similar to GarrettJD except for this time period in 2002. This was when the travel industry seemed to be picking back up after the severe drop due to the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In 2002, the crowds seemed to be larger than during our other visits at the end of May/beginning of June.

Many school systems in some of the most populous states (other than Texas, Florida, and Georgia) are still in session until later in June.

The schedule of events for Gay Days can be found on the Gay Days Calendar . The events are always scheduled for the week containing the 1st Saturday of June. This year, June 3 is the 1st Saturday in June and MK is designated as the park for visitation by Gay Days. MK will be very crowded. During some of our earlier visits to WDW on this day, WDW opened other parks an hour early for resort guests.
