Hi--this is my first post, but I have been avidly reading these boards this last month and can't believe the information I am finding! Here is my question:

Value season ends the end of September. Is there much of a difference in crowds between September(value season) and October(regular season)? I know the weather is cooler in October, but I would rather have heat and less people!!

The last time we went to DW, we were there the week after 9-11-01 and it was unbelievable!! It was a terrible time for America--but we had an incredible break from all the chaos in the world at DW!! There were almost literally NO lines for most rides. You didn't need PS for most restaurants. Is there anyway to find crowds like that?

Off to read more threads!! Thanks for all the information!!

September beginning after Labor Day is one of the lightest times of the year. October has significantly larger crowds although still not huge.

Sept is still the better month as far as crowds go, but Oct. still isn't horrible. We're going down the first week in Oct. ourselves---.

I originally had a studio reserved at the VWL for Oct 8-16 - the wk start Columbus Day wknd.
Just this Mon upgraded to a 1bedroom and changed our dates to Oct 2-9 - the wk ending Sat before Columbus Day.
But now that we have our 1bedroom we wont be doing the parks commando.
I know I could have reserved the wk before (end of Sept) but then we would have missed MNSSHP.

In the past three years I have been to Disney in September (yes I was there also right after 9/11 (9/19-9/23) and I don't think you will ever find it that uncrowded again. I think our longest line was 5 minutes while we were there.

Two years ago we went in October for our honeymoon and highest wait time was about 30 minutes while this year we went in September and the wait was about 20 minutes for the longest line.

I would go in September to save the $$$ as it is definetly cheaper. It is not much cooler in October. I mean who can really tell a difference between 90 and 95 degrees anyway.

You will enjoy either, just have fun.

Thanks for replying. We will just have to go and see what a normal September is like! That was our first and only trip there, so we don't have anything to compare it to!

You may want to keep in mind that this year the F&WF begins October 1st and runs for 45 days. The 1st 2 weeks can be very busy. That's why we'll be going the end of October.

We have also gone the last 3 years (including 9/11) the last two weeks of September. Last year we stayed a week into October and I would say while not crowded we could already tell the difference in that there were just more people in general and the big ticket lines were slightly longer.

October is also the start of the MNSSHP and I think that brings in more people too.

So if you don't mind hot and a little wet sometimes then I'd stick with September for the $$$ and the crowds. You will love it!
