We are going possibly in September instead of October like we originally planned and am wondering what the crowds are like. Any ideas on weather also? I'm worried it will be too hot and/or crowded (our last trip was in March and weather & crowds were great).

That is the week we usually go, this year we had to move it up by two weeks! The crowds are great, we hardly had to wait in any lines! The weather is hot though! Being from northern Illinois I'm not used to that heat and humidity in September! It's a great time to go... I'll never attempt spring break or summer! Have fun! :yay:

we are going sept 16/24th 2006-- we were originally going to go in oct- we usually try for oct and dec. we just got back in dec 2005- and i thought lets try sept next year b/c the crowds in oct were getting a bit larger the last few times we have been.....

i also asked a million times about the sept crowds and everyone says they are very low..... however, it is supposed to be very hot and humid....and of course it will be hurricane season........BUT.....the crowds will be low and that is what i am really trying for. :thumbsup2

i will have to wait and see how i make out in the heat! ;)

cant say i am a "happy sweater" :rotfl: -- i think i will be less "cranky" sweating with NO crowds than to sweat with crowds!

We went last September...9th to the 15th...crowds were very small...longest lines were 30 min waits...most you could walk right up...several fastpass lines closed due to short waits...

weather was warm...low 90's each day...but we lucked out with no rain any of the days...

good luck!!!

Crowds will be small. Have a great vacation.

Thanks everyone for your input! I'm still contemplating my dates - love the idea of low crowds but hate the heat & humidity factor. Have a couple days to make up my minds.....heat/no crowds in September or wait for Food & Wine w/crowds & minimal heat (not like a couple weeks will make that much difference in heat). :confused3

We went in mid September last year - and LOVED it ! I think that's the best time to go. We could not believe the lack of lines / crowds. We were able to get on many more rides than the year before (October).
Last September was HOT - HOT - HOT. We had 90+ degree weather the entire time. I didn't mind the heat, because we were in Disney :sunny: . We don't plan on taking the kids out of school again anytime soon, but I would absolutely do September again.

We've gone twice in September and although it's hot and a bit humid - we love the fact that there is no crowds :thumbsup2

Our only concern during Sept is any Hurricane's floating nearby. Both years we went, there were warnings, but we're scheduled to leave before they got too near. I think Orlando ended up with just rain from them both.

Enjoy :)

We have reservations for the last week in September and are wondering if the crowds will be really bad. :confused3 We are basing this on the unofficial guide :rotfl2: (and maybe we shouldn't) but it indicates that crowds are really bad the last week of Sept. HELP! :bounce: Should we pay attention to that book or keep our ressies? Any info would be great for this new Disney fan. :thumbsup2

We were there the last week of September 2005. No crowds!! Just about every ride was a walk-on. Our longest wait was 20-25 mins for Epcot's Soarin. The weather was wonderful. One word of caution though...we thought we would be safe in the off season and only booked PS for our character meals. We tried to get into Le Cellier for 2 days and they had no dinner openings, along with most of the restaurants at Epcot. If you are planning on eating any table service meals make sure you book before you go. :sunny:

I would personally keep your ressies. I wonder why they are saying that - Food and Wine Festival maybe?? I think September is the best / least crowded time to go :)

I am sure some things have changed since we went in September 1983, but one thing hasn't changed: The start of the school year. That alone helps to keep a lot of people away. We were told that year that there were more Cast Members working WDW than there were guests - and from what we saw, I believe it! Our average wait was about 5 minutes, 9 times out of 10 on the monorail, we rode in the front/drivers area. I was just a kid then, but we enjoyed it so much we are booked for 9/2007 with my kids!

We went the 17th-23rd of Sept.'05. It wasn't very crowded. I did not know what crowded was until February19,2006 at MK. I'm still traumatized(is that a word) :confused3 by that day!

i think the food and wine festival brings more people to the parks- we did the F+W a couple times a few years back- but the crowds started getting bigger every year. i orig had my sept ressies for sept 23/oct1- but changed them just to be sure not even to touch the beginning of the F+W festival.

this year i want to be CROWD FREE! get outta my way! :rotfl: i moved our ressies up to sept 16/24th.

and........

I have the unofficial guide as well and it is showing the last week in Sept as "4" for the crowd rating. As far as I can tell it doesn't get less crowded than that?! Granted, it is based on a scale of 1-10 but I don't see any days listed lower than a 4. I hope I am interpreting this correctly because i changed my ressies to the last week in Sept. based on this. :confused3

Go in September. The weather is good, the crowds are small and if you buy the package they give you the dining plan for free....We have 8 people going for 10 days....we saved planty with that :-)
