What are the crowds and weather like in the last week of Sept?

Crowds in Sept are usually low...As for the weather it depends.. This year they are predicting a bad hurricane season but lets hope they are wrong!!
:( :)

oh gosh I hope not...but we own enough gortex to not care...

if the parks close due to bad weather will they refund our park passes or will our trip ins cover it?

We always went the last week of September into October. As time went on, the crowds got larger. The Food and Wine Festival has boosted crowds and the free dining last year sent it over the top. The new "Dreams" campaign starts on October 1st, I think, so they're trying to give the crowds an even BIGGER boost.

oh please dont tell me that! BF doesnt like crowds thats why we go on the off season...
OK I need pixie dust -this doesnt sound so good...

I wouldn't get worried. I think the last week of Sept is still one of the best weeks to go in terms of crowds. We are going 9/23-9/30 this year. The free dining may increase the crowds a bit, but I don't think it'll be bad. They pretty much have some deal going for all of the down times. However, we will also be leaving before the F&W Festival gets going, so that is another reason I think it'll be a good week to go.

Gonna be HOT though...

Andy

Didn't mean to panic you! It's not CROWDED, but it's not as light as it used to be in prior years.

we went in Jan of 2004 and walked onto every ride...even space moutain TWICE....it seemed like it was going to be just as good this time around...I hope so...
We will be there sept 25-30

You should be okay. Even if you can't walk onto every ride, it's a great time of year to go.

hopefully I can schedule our parks the right way...I know thats part of it...but we want to do kttk tour and I have to figure out how to schedule that so that we get the most out of the park...
I'm really worried about animal kingdom and epcot and WDW....mgm we are going to do when we get there. Our flight gets in at like 1045...so by the time we check in and everything we should be at mgm by noon...
work work work...but in the end its worth it b/c he will have this little kid look on his face the entire time!

We are also going the same time, 9/27 to 10/2 and wondered about crowds and the heat. What is the temps like in late sept early oct? I can't take the heat any longer so we planned this trip hoping for moderate weather.

I'm hoping for moderate weather also...planning on bringing the camel backs.

Hey everyone! :wave2: My family will be there the same week, Sept. 23 - Sept. 30. I posted the same question about the weather and temps about a month ago, when we booked our trip. A helpful fellow DISer gave me this link. It gives the weather history for Orlando that week. Well, I have put those dates in before I copied and pasted the link. If the dates aren't there simply put the dates in. It should give you an idea of the weather to expect. It looks like it will be hot. We normally go the end of Nov. or beginning of Dec. We were hooked with the free dining for Sept. so this will be a new time of year for us.

We will be there that week too. Staying at POR! I looked up on a website, can't remember which one...sorry....but it tells you what the crowds are expected to be every day. It gives a score of 1-10....10 being the most crowded, 1 being the least. I didn't see anything under a 4 at all. Here's what it said for:
Sept 27th is a 4
Sept 28th is a 4
Sept 29th is a 5
Sept 30th is a 4

It also tells what parks you should go to and which to avoid. Here's the info on that:

27th: Go to MGM, avoid AK
28th: Go to Epcot & AK, avoid MK
29th: Go to AK, avoid MK, Epcot & MGM
30th: Go to MK & Epcot, avoid MGM & AK

It'll still be really warm. A bit cooler at night, but I've never need a jacket for me. I bring one for my dd though. Also, make sure you have a raincoat. The downpours during hurricane season are really vicious sometimes!

1st trip...awsome that helps thanks! if you remember the site please post it!

ain...we bring our gortex jackets with us...we're outside type people....so we know where the other is and we dont get stuck in a sea of yellow ponchos...

thanks !

Ok, information on the heat.... I'm a South Florida native & I have to tell you that August & September are usually the hottest months for us. However that being said, we are going to WDW the second week of September ourselves. The crowds are light so we just "deal" with the heat. Just plan accordingly & you will be fine. :sunny:

The website is www.touringplans.com. I was just checking out the last week in September. Looks about as good as you can get, with mostly 4's and some 5's. I don't see anything under 4. Now, lets hope for wonderful weather!! :sunny:

I'd predict more like 7's and 8's for that last weekend. F&W starts, MNSSHP and Free Dining is going on. Some schools have off Monday Oct 2nd for a Jewish holiday. Weekdays will be better than the weekend, IMHO.

thanks for all the posts!
I will definately be using the links you all posted!
thank you!!!
