Planning a DVC stay in mid november before Thanksgiving (14-20th) and would love to take the kids (age 7,5 and 5) to Universal. I had thought about staying on site to take advantage of FOTL, but I doubt I'll be able to get any substantial deals for a 1 or 2 night stay so the cost would be over $500 for 2 nights.

So now thinking about driving to USF from our DVC resort (Beach Club).
How busy will things be at Universal, and will the waits be long without FOTL access? Given our kids are still too small for the coasters, our priorities would be to ride Spiderman, the two water rides and maybe Jurassic Park (at IOA), and Shrek, MIB, Simpsons, Jaws, ET and the Mummy (just for me!).

Thanks in advance

I should mention that we would be planning to do the USF parks on a Saturday and Sunday, so I'm sure the parks would be busier then compared to weekdays.

In 07, we went from Nov 10th thru the 18th, and left the Sat b4 Thanksgiving
It was awesome, but we stay on site and have access to FOTL

But I do remember the crowds being pretty light.

The week leading up to Thanksgiving is pretty slow so you shouldn't have long waits and I definately think you would not need the Express Plus passes during that time. You are correct that weekends are busier than weekdays but it still shouldn't be too bad.
