Just wondering what to expect for the first of May in terms of crowds and weather. Any Ideas?

Thanks!
Bryant

I've been the past two Mays and all I can say is HOT HOT HOT!!! Be prepared. Crowds weren't that bad until Memorial Day weekend. The week before always seems to be a little crowded but not unmanageable.

I have found May to be somewhat random with regard to the weather. One year was really hot. The next it was low 70s. Crowds are about average. Much better than going in the summer or near a holiday.

In fact, my DW and I like May so much that we are going back in May of this year. Beach Club Villas in case you're wondering. :)

We too, go in May. Moderate crowds.
Pleasant weather. We love it.

Average highs are in the mid-80's at the beginning of May, and hit 90 at the end of the month.

Of course those are only averages...

Talinthor,
Cool we are staying at the Villa's as well. When are you going down? We're going down May 4-9th.

When we were in WDW in May of 2001, we were there the 3rd week of May, and it was in the middle of the big drought, so of course, we had no problems with rain... quite the opposite, we were all praying for rain, as there were fires off of 192, and actually one back by the Epcot Castmember parking area--- so it was very smoky.

As for crowds, they were moderate, and we had no problems seeing or doing whatever we pleased. The temps were in the mid 80's and the humidity was low.

May is probably my favorite time to go.. love the Flower Festival in Epcot, and the weather is just about perfect... warm days, warm nights, little rain, and lower humidity.

We will be there from May 3 - 11. We are DVC members since 2000 and have stayed at our home resort (BWV) a couple of times so far. This will be our first stay at the BCV. I really like being close to Epcot (and the ESPN Club ;)) although the Boardwalk can get a little noisy at night if you're trying to sleep.

Anyway, have fun! Once you go off season, it's hard to go again any other time.

Still mourning my Giants,

We were also there May 2001-Wasn't that unreal?
People were gagging and walking around hiding their
faces. Everyone was pretty thankful when we got a
rainstorm one afternoon and the wind had changed
direction.

On my first ever trip to WDW in May of 1996 the temperature was 96 every day. It didn't really bother me and the evenings were beautiful. There was rain for 20 minutes one day.
Each subsequent trip in May the temps seemed to get a little cooler until last time in 2001 it was in the high 70's to low 80's. There has never been alot of rain though in 97 it rained like nothing I have seen before. That lasted about 45 minutes.
The crowds at all the parks have always been easy to deal with except on their ealry entry days. The Magic Kingdom has always been crazy on Saturdays.
