Crowds in March?

I am nervously trying to plan our very first Disney World vacation for March (Since they're offering buy 4 get 3 and the 200.00 gift card). I have planned to book March 21st-28th 2009 since my kiddos will be on Spring break then. (ages 7 and 5.....2nd grade and preK). My question is, how are the crowds then? Is it super crowded? Is there another time frame that would be better to visit (I'm NOT opposed to pulling my kids out of school for a week and neither is our schools). The 200.00 gift card is REALLY appealing to my meager budget!

(we also have two other children that will be 3 and 10months in March)

That's my week as well, and as I understand it, it's a very busy time. But Easter is a few weeks later, so it won't be peak crowds. I haven't been at this time of year, but I have been in late April and mid-May and both of those times are really nice. If you can change your dates, that may be a calmer time.

My kids and I visited for the first time March 7-11 2008. We didn't think the crowds were bad at all. The only park we found that was a bit crowded was Animal Kingdom. We stayed offsite which we will NEVER do again. We loved this time so much we are returning March 3-13 2009. The weather was perfect. A couple days we needed a sweater in the evening but other than that no rain just great weather.

I've never been to Orlando in March....is it best to pack jeans/shorts/sweatshirts/tshirts/longsleeved shirts?? I've never felt so clueless in all my life! I wasn't this nervous planning my wedding! lol

WE went in March of 2007. IT was nice. The temp was a little cool in the am but in the afternoon it was like 70's and 80's. I took a lite jacket for the mornings. but I wouldnt take longsleeved shirts......it will get hot.....

Thank you!! I'm so excited about getting to go, but SOOO nervous at the same time. I've never had to plan what I wanted to do/eat so far in advance! LOL

It will be busy!
I've gone the last 2 marches. Both the first week. The first year, Easter was in April, which meant most colleges had break in March. It was extremely pakced. I was actually a bit irritated at times about how packed it was. Last March, we went the same week, but Easter was in March. Colleges had there breaks earlier (so I was told) and that first week was wonderful. It wasn;t slow, but much better than the year before. Even our flight was dirt cheap. but we left on Friday and already the crowds were coming in. I heard the next week was quite packed.

If yoour shcool is on break, that menas several others wil lbe too, and it will be busy. If you can go late Feb, that might be a better option. Or in early May. I've gone twice then and the crowdes were very managable.
The first March is was very cold, and I wore my leather bomber jacket the first day. It gradually warmed up and by the day we left it was in the 80's. this past March was beautiful, and I wore shorts pretty much every day. You still need sweatshirts for evenings though.
