My daughter is playing in the AAU volleyball tournament in June. We plan on going to the parks the two days after the tournament (Friday/Saturday June 23/24). Anyone have experience with crowds in late June. I'm expecting crazy huge crowds.

We will take advantage of early magic hours and have visited Disney many times before. I'm just curious what I'm headed into...:p

Thanks for any thoughts.

HOT HOT HOT!! We were there about the same time last summer for a softball tournament. We are from Texas where it gets pretty darn hot, but we don't do theme parks here in the summer. We did early morning hours, went back to the pool and them back to the park in the evenings. I would never choose to go that time of year but if you are already there, why not! Expect hot and crowded!! But hot and crowded Disney is better than no Disney!!

I've visited at busy times, think spring break, and "slower" times, think first week of september and december, and have always found the parks to be about equally crowded. June will definitely have lengthy waits midday for popular attractions. Use FP+ wisely and make ADRs and you will be fine!

The last time we went was the last full week in June (avoiding July 4th crowds) and it wasn't bad at all. Saturday and Sunday were obviously the most crowded. This year we are going the week school lets out and will arrive June 13th. Hoping for crowds that aren't insane!

We go in late June quite often. It's WDW, it's always busy...June, Oct, May, you name it. It's the start of summer breaks for schools, so you'll get family summer vacationers. It's busy, but not holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas) busy.

My daughter will be playing at the AAU volleyball tournament as well. We went last year and I did not think the crowds were that bad. We added a couple days before and a couple after the tournament. The club she plays for will not allow them to visit parks during the tournament. We just went at park opening and scheduled fastpasses starting around 10:00, went back to the hotel to rest in the afternoon after we finished out fastpasses and would return to parks at night.

Hey, that's the exact same day that we arrive! I know it will be hot and crowded, but hopefully not as hot and crowded as later in the summer.

I just want to say that I miss the days when our family plans were driven by AAU girls basketball. Ugh, always loved watching at the time, my daughter says she could hear me all the time, - but, I admit I was annoyed by the constraints placed on the family. I'd give just about anything back to be able to cheer for my daughters playing sports again!!!

How wonderful to be able to experience Disney and the competitive and strong side of your daughter at the same time!!

Thanks for the response.

Yes we are adding two days at the end of the tournament for Magic Kingdom/Animal Kingdom and then we are heading on a 5 day Disney Dream cruise. Managed to get two full weeks off from work. Never been able to do that before. Can't wait.

Thanks for the nice words. Completely agree that this is a hectic but great time for our family. This will be the final club volleyball tournament she will likely play. It's been wonderful to see her grow into a fine young, strong woman.

We have gone in June multiple times. In fact, we will leave just before you arrive. (I am happy with the dates. We were originally scheduled to be there around July 4th.) It will be hot. It will rain in the afternoon. There will be a lot of people.

Arriving early is always the key. It is easy to hit PP and Pooh early and not have to schedule FPs for them. The kids want to hit the Mountains. We usually take midday breaks. I like a respite, a shower and a new set of clothes for the evening.
