Crowds in January

My husband will be running in the WDW marathon on Jan 7, and then we will be staying the next week, thru the 12th. Does anyone how crowded it typically is this time of year?

January is a great time to go! It may be just a little busier on marathon weekend, but (from what I've read) it gets quiet as soon as the weekend is done.

We've only visited in January, and loved the low crowds. The longest we waited in line for anything was about 15 minutes (Space Mountain at 2:30 in the afternoon!).

Granted, it's been five years since my wife and I spent our 10th Anniversary at the World in January, but the crowds were soooo small......."HOW SMALL WERE THEY!"....They were small, we walked directly into Space Mountain and Buzz, NO LINE WHAT SO EVER! on our first day there. It was a great trip. Only Sunday was a little crowded.

How are the crowds during the time of Jan.29th- Feb.3 ????????

My dates too!!!! First solo trip and birthday. Hoping for low crowds and great weather.

Anytime after New Years is a good time for January. We will also be going at the end of January, and we are expecting low crowds. I love January and December, they are my favorite months to go, as long as it isn't during Xmas/New Years, the crowds are very low. :woohoo:

We were there this year from Thurs January 5th- Friday, January 13th. Our first day in the parks was Friday the 6th at MK. We were absolutely thrilled with the crowds. Our kids are 3 and 5 and our trip the year before we left the parks every day about lunch time for a nap and a break from the crowds and heat. Our January trip a break was unnecessary! The temps were great and the crowds were low.

The marathon weekend itself was slightly busier in the parks, but NOTHING like the busy spring break week in April from our previous trip. We stayed at Pop Century and it was supposedly sold out due to the marathon. We never would have guessed!

Tuesday the 10th-Thursday the 12th the parks were practically EMPTY. It was wonderful!!! No lines for anything other than Soarin' at Epcot. We went to MK Wednesday afternoon around 2:30. We walked onto Jungle Cruise, got caught by the afternoon parade but got a good viewing place, walked onto haunted mansion, walked through Fantasyland where the waits were short or nonexistant, waited 5 minutes for Space Mtn and even tried Stitch because there was no wait. Incredible time to go! Oh, the daytime temps ranged from daytime highs in the 40s to the 80s. We had three days warm enough to swim and probably 2 days we wore sweatshirts AND jackets.

You're very smart to stay the week AFTER the marathon. That's when the crowds really disappear. The first few days of January, from New Years leading to the marathon, WDW is very crowded.

It's a great week to be at WDW. We went this year and are going again next year at the same time. Low crowds and nice weather. January can be iffy, but we've been lucky with the weather. This year it was sunny and warm every day. I never put a jacket on, even at night. Of course, we're coming from Michigan in the middle of winter, so 70's is perfect for us.

You have chosen a good time to go!

Those are my dates, too. I've never been during that time, but I keep hearing the parks are empty. I can't wait!

my wife and i are going from jan 13th until the 20th cant wait supposedly the slowest week of the year :cool1:

The crowds are generally lighter in Jan. You should have a good time. The only down side is that the parks aren't usually open as long in the winter.

I will be there for my BDAY too!!!!!! Where are you staying

I was excited to see this thread. My family and I will be there Jan 11-25, and it sounds like the perfect time to go. So far we have always been lucky with crowds on our trips, either we have gone during the off season, or right after Sept. 11th when no one was traveling. I don't mind that the parks won't be open as late since we will have a 20 month old, 3 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old in our party, and they will not be able to make it late anyway.

Although, I do have to say that we went in Spetember of 2004 (I think it was) during that particularly bad hurricane season. We were there after Charlie and when Ivan was on it's way. The park was so empty that it did take away some of the magic. Sure we walked on every ride, which is great, but there is some magic when you are part of a group who are all experiencing what you are and are as excited to be there as you are.

Been the last two and going again in 2007. It will be crowded the week before the races, but after should be wonderful - ENJOY :thumbsup2

Last year they split the races into two days which increased the number of runners by thousands, and now they have moved the 5k so three days of races...add to that the schools out until the 8th, like us and you have crowds. Our day at MK (1/3) was like a summer crowd but with cooler weather ! Pick your poison....

ive always gone the first week of feb and it was always great but im tryin jan.6th to the 14th for my next trip. bringing my girlfreind that has never been to the world so i hoping the crowds and weather turn out to be perfect. hope to see you there :cool1: have to say the wait is killing me :hourglass :rotfl2:

I'll be doing my first January trip 16-21 07 at Wilderness Lodge..can't wait for the low crowds and low temps.....went this year in May and it was unseasonably hotter than normal.

Since you arrive on the Saturday of Martin Luther King weekend, the first three days of your visit will probably be crowded. It will get much better on Tuesday, January 16th.
