Hello my Disney family,
We were thinking about visiting Disneyland the first week in June. How are the crowds in early June? Does it get very crowded?

Everyone has just gotten out of school and the weather is great and this year there are exciting new attractions opening. Expect HUGE crowds.

Not to scare you just prepare you, but usually early June has crowds which are moderate. However, this year on June 3 they are opening two major rides and it will bring in a ton of people. :)

I'm glad to read HydroGuy's and Mama Who's posts and feel confident that I gave sound advice to a couple of friends.

You see, two different friends of mine asked me over this past week about making rather impromptu June DLR trips (I mean, really, guys - it's the end of May and you are just now planning your June trips?:rolleyes1). They each have young kids who have never been to DLR at all, and for that matter, each of these friends has not been to DLR in years and years (one of them has not been there in 20 years:scared1:).

I tried to tell my friends that planning such last minute multi-day trips for June, with no pre-arranged places to stay, was not good in and of itself. But, further, I told them that because of Star Tours and the Little Mermaid, not to mention the new restaurant at the DLH, and the fact that June/summer is peak season at DLR...there would be huge crowds that they will not be prepared for. I mean, these are people who don't even know about Fast Passes, really, because it's been so long since they were there. And with no time or patience to really plan out a trip and prepare, I can see them going to DLR and coming back home, grumbling about how awful the crowds and lines were, how high the prices were, vowing to never go back, etc.

I'm surprised to hear this, because in my experience the first weekend in June isn't too bad. It's not January, but when I've been there the crowds have been workable.

This is also the first time I've heard of the two rides opening, and I gotta say my reaction was...'crap.' Though after thinking about it I remember I was there when Nemo opened and from what I remember most of the people surrounded it, leaving the other lines lighter, so I'm actually not too worried.

OK. HydroGuy, Sherry E and others, would you say that I'm looking at Christmas 2010 crowds?

If you mean the week between Christmas and New Years expect the worse then. The week before, when many school are out will have very big crowds too. The week before when some but few schools are out, but the holiday decoration is in full effect, will probably be similar to next week when the new attractions are open drawing in extra crowds despite school still being in session. To some it's really busy to some a tolerable expected big crowd.

charmama4 - Just to be sure I understand your question correctly, are you asking if the June crowds this year will be similar to what the Christmas 2010 crowds were?

If the June 2011 -December 2010 comparison is your question, I'm not sure what the answer would be. Did you go to DLR for the holiday season last year? If you went for Christmas in 2010, which week were you at DLR? Was it the actual week of Christmas, or was it another week in December?

All I know is that the reports of last year's holiday season as a whole were that attendance was up (yet again) and broke records (yet again). I think last year was even more crowded than the 2009 season. I was not at DLR over actual Christmas week, but I was there over the period of time in which the Cast Member parties happen, from Sunday - Wednesday, expecting crowds to be light, and actually Wednesday (December 15) was the least crowded day out of all my days. Sunday, Dec. 12 was a madhouse (in my opinion, which could differ from someone else's opinion). Monday, Dec. 13 (a CM party night) looked just like Sunday, Tuesday, Dec. 14 (another CM party night) was not much better, and then finally I noticed a discernible decrease in crowds on the 15th.

If you happened to be at DLR over the actual week of Christmas, it was probably very, very crowded.

And as to how December 2010 compares to June of this year, I couldn't say because while I have done many holiday/December trips, I have not made a June DLR trip in years and years. Summer DLR trips are definitely more in HydroGuy's area of expertise.

Good morning all,
OK, to be specific we were there the 29th thru the 31st of December to celebrate our anniversary :lovestruc. While we were in San Diego(for Christmas) with family we kept up with the news about all the rain (we caught it all the way down from Travis AFB, too) and closing of the gates because of high occupancy. Needless to say we were worried that we wouldn't be able to get in. However, we did get in!! But because of the previous weather that kept people away it certainly brought them ALL in those few days!!!! It was CRAZY :scared1:>

So my question is is that the kind of crowds I should prepare myself and my family for?

Went last year (6/2/2010) for the day and just DL seem to be slightly crowded with school groups. My son's jr. high band marched for the early evening parade so they had all day to play! Other schools for various programs or celebrations were there as well as my son and his friends were discouraged by most long lines & opted to spend most of their time in the arcade. This THURSDAY(6/2/11) they will again be marching at DL but I will not be chaperoning but just watching them @ parade! So it could be NOT so terrible with lots of families but just teenagers! (LOL)

Also, don't forget about a few grad nites. The parks will close early. My OLDER son will be attending on June 9th!

We used to always go in early June, and the parks were just wonderful. Not crowded at all. But over the last few times the crowds really have picked up. This year, yeah I wouldn't go in early June. LOL Not with those rides just opening up, it's gonna be crazy. I'm worried about going in late June. I know it's going to be crowded, but I'm hoping a lot of the people got those two new rides out of the system by late June. lol Grad nights are always an issue to. Not with crowds, but it's a bummer to have the parks close early on those nights.

My personal observation (I am in the park at least once a week).... Crowds are unusually high this year and will continue to be- period. The talk of the new parking structure says it all. DCA used to be our "go to" when DL got too crowded, no escaping anymore. It's going to come down to go when you want, when works for your family's schedule- not working anything around crowd levels. Honestly, just go into it with an open mind and make the best of your time :goodvibes

I think this June is going to be EXTREMELY busy. I am SCARED :scared1:

The resort hotels are almost completely booked for next week (If you do a room search you get options for suites!!!) The following week looks to be about the same!

I've been to Disneyland twice. Once in October, which I thought was a slow season but except for my last day was really crowded and the second time was the first week of December which was really nice crowd wise! I am honestly scared to go this month! But I started planning in December as I wanted to go for my Birthday and alas my Birthday is in June so that is when we go!

Having read many of the threads on here and knowing a general touring plan will be helpful I am still considering using RideMax to get the most out of my trip!
