Crowds in December (and Christmas events)

We want to visit DLR in December 2009 and I'm looking to avoid the crowds. I know that means not going the week before Christmas. I'm wondering if there are any great weeks that you can suggest.

I'm also wondering about any special Christmas events that DLR offers.

Don't go the week between Christmas and New Year's, either. If you've never been at Christmas, it's really a very magical time. Decorations all over the place, Small World all decorated with lights, the castle covered with "snow" and I've heard they are expanding this year and doing it on Main Street, too.
