crowds for Mardi Gras - Feb 22 - 29

Anyone know what the crowds will be the week after President's week - we are off the week after the rest of the country.

I beg to differ. I went last year not knowing it was Mardi Gras and it was the busiest "off season" week I have ever seen. I think the entire state of Louisiana heads to WDW. Prepare yourself for huge crowds.

we will be in WDW 2/25-3/2. So we have accidently booked during Mardi Gras and ESPN weekend (we are actually going for our birthdays').

So what events are happening for Mardi Gras in WDW? Never been to any Mardi Gras celebrations before, so I am definitely curios.

Ditto, for me. 2+ hour waits for rides. We were at BWV and that didn't seem busy but the parks and restaurants were a different story. It did improve a bit as the week progressed. I will avoid that week in the future.

I'm glad we live in New Hampshire since our vacations are after the biggie weeks.

I guess it depends what you are comparing to. I was comparing to other times when school is out i.e. summer, christmas, thanksgiving, easter... (although i've never actually been during thanksgiving week).

If you are comparing to "off times" (when kids are in school) like end of january beginning of may, september, early october, then it would be busier than those.

Since the OP was considering it a holiday time that was my frame of reference as to the crowds not being too bad. (I've been at xmas time when the fire marshalls would not let anyone else into the park. uggh!)

And it's only HALF the state of Louisiana! haha

Last year Mardi Gras week fell the same time as something else, some competition they had there though, so there will be a lot of people from louisiana including us, but i don't think it will be that bad.

I was thinking the same thing, it can't be as bad as the summer time or Thanksgiving, shich we will never go again, we went a few times for Mardi Gras week, one of those times it was Presidents week and Daytona 500 as well as Mardi Gras that was crowded but still not as bad as summer or Thanksgiving...so we should be good, i personally know 8 families from here that are going for Mardi Gras, should be fun!

We'll be there as well. We went last year as well. My DH said it was the least crowded trip we had ever had. I think it seemed extra crowded to some people last year because it was also the last week of value season. The lower resort prices attracted a lot of people for a MG vacation.

I am from New Orleans and many families are planning their trip for this time frame. I was wandering if there was anything else major happening that week. We went two years ago at this time and it was President's week and Daytona 500 and it was much worse than what we experience when we do out summer trip. Just trying to see what to expect.

I go in February every year. Once for President's Week, Once for Mardi-Gras-but-not-Presidents-Week, and twice for Niether-Mardi-Nor-Presidents.

P-Week is a noticeable bump in crowds.

My experience is that Mardi Gras has a much more modest effect. You notice a lot of NOLA escapees in their purple, green, and gold, but in absolute numbers, they don't really add that much.
