Are the crowds that are caused by Star Wars Weekend mainly at Disney Studios?

Thanks!

Thanks, Searcher. I thought as much but just wanted to confirm.

One thing to kinda keep in mind is that Revenge of the Sith will be premiering this year. What does that mean?

Well, lots of hard-core Star Wars geeks will most likely be spending their money to go to Celebration 3, the only Star Wars convention (only held once every three years, and in Indiana). They then have to save money to go to either San Diego ComicCon or Dragoncon in Georgia, whereas last year they may have gone to Disney and one of the other major cons instead.

What does this mean for you? Simple: many hard core (and some lesser dedicated geeks) will not have the funds to go to Star Wars Weekends this year. So, the crowds may be lighter because there are other major "once in a lifetime" events that they will spend their money on, and Star Wars Weekends will "always" be available.

Just a little thought from my world of geekdom! :3dglasses

Thats a good thing to hear!!! Maybe we can enjoy a dy at stars wars weekend!!! I have never been to one, but I am sure it will be a doozieee!!

what is the date of the premier of the new star wars movie?

Star Wars Celebration 3 is April 21 - 24, 2005

Revenge of the Sith is released May 19th, 2005

The crowds will be at MGM and it will barely affect non-SWW related events.

Wow..good thoughts on this! We had to change our travel dates AND arrangements because my DH and DS were having fits because our original vacation time was over just before SWW started. Ahh..the things I do for my spoiled boys

Anyway, this gives me some hope that it won't be as bad as I have been envisioning it! Thanks ;)

I went to SWW last year and am definately planning to go again this year! Honestly, unless you intentionally get into the mix, you wont even notice it if you go on Friday. When we went into MGM at first, we had to do our normal Bear and Little Mermaid, etc stuff (my son's are 2 and 4) before heading over to the SW area. You would not have even known it was going on until we rounded the curve by Star Tours. We went back on Sunday (with hubby in tow that time) and it was much more busy but we still had a wonderful time and could get around no problem!

If you have any SW people in your house, it is a fantastic thing to do. When we were walking in on Sunday, a storm trooper was coming down from the top of entrance (Boba Fett was hanging out up there too and they have sound effects and conversations that you can hear going on with the storm troopers up there - very cool :D ). My oldest (4) had his Jango gun with him and was going to protect us from the ST. The ST saw us standing there and came over and stared down my 4 year old - it was PRICELESS and the guy ruffled his hair before leaving to let him know all was well. Son was never scared - simply in AWE (as was his geeky mommy lol :3dglasses). There were moments where you would hear things like "make way for the Emperor" coming from behind you and he would be walking through the crowd with his (red) royal guard escorting him. There is a jedi training academy where they kids get to learn from a real jedi and then they get to fight either Darth Maul or Vader. (my sons were too shy - but we had to watch it MANY times :earboy2: ) Characters simply walked the crowd at times. Others were in lines for autographs and pictures - but none minded a picture even when walking around. etc, etc, etc, etc hehehe can you tell we had a good time?

I can't wait!!! I was so afraid they wouldn't do it this year with the movie release...now I am stoked!!! :Pinkbounc

Thanks!! I will try to go on a friday and maybe ps's for fantistmic?!?!? Sounds like a plan to me!! :D

My wife and I were at MGM during the last weekend of the star wars weekend. The celebrity was not a real draw and the crowds were really about normal of MGM.

SWW are cute but not great.

SWW are a lot of fun like everyone is saying. I was there with my high school band/orchestra when Episode II came out. Needless to say I spent my WHOLE day at MGM in/around "Star Tours" and the store because the guys I was with are huge SW fans. I have some of the funniest pictures of 16-18 year old guys dueling with each other and random Jedi's and Troopers (one of whom stole a lightsaber from us and brought it back after fighting another Trooper).
Something else to look out for is in line for Star Tours, at one point there is a floor above you to the left with a door at one end. Occasionally, Chewbacca (spelled that so wrong) comes out up there and waves and makes noise. It's a lot of fun. I've even seen him when it wasn't a SSW.

Just my two cents...

I am one of those hard-core Star Wars fans who will be at WDW for the 12:01 show at Pleasure Island AMC and the first Star Wars weekend. I can think of nothing better than combining a WDW vacation with a Star Wars event. As to the crowds: We went four years ago to a SW Weekend and it seemed like just another day at MGM. The crowds were not overwhelming. We went on Mother's Day one year when Sunday was early entry and the crowds were much larger.
