Crowds During a three-week span

Thanks in advance to all who reply to this message. Back in 1997, six of us went to Disney World sometime in March or April during my spring break (I can't remember what week). For whatever reason, there were no lines at all the whole week...I did Tower of Terror ten times in a row without waiting!

Now my wife and I are looking to go to DW during either one of the last two weeks in March or else the first week of April. Does anyone know if one of those weeks would be significantly more or less crowded than the other weeks?

Thanks,

RGP

Bump....

If anyone has any knowledge or experience with regard to these three weeks, I would really appreciate a response.

Thanks

we have been twice in March.... the 1st week and the 2nd week. Neither was bad crowd wise, but the 1st week was better. I think that the earlier you go, the better, as far as crowds are concerned. The closer you get to Easter, the more crowded it gets, alot of schools spring breaks are based on the easter dates. Although, I have been reading alot of posts saying that times that are normally slower have been crowded. So I would not count on the crowds being non-existent like your last trip. Either way, just plan well, and have a great trip!!!

It wouldn't surprise me if DW attempted to schedule more events during their "slow" season so as to decrease the seasonality of their business. Also, unlike eight years ago, the Braves will be in spring training at DW this year, I think.

Thanks for the response!

I've done some further research since my last post. The Touring Plans website gives higher ratings for the first week in April than for the last two March weeks, yet my other research on spring breaks indicates that US spring breaks are spread out in March and April, that Canadian spring breaks are in March, and Japan has a holiday in March (obviously Canadian and Japanese holidays aren't nearly as big a factor as US).

If anyone can recall having traveled in the last couple weeks of March or the first week of April within the past few years, I'd love to hear about their experience.

Thanks,

rgp

the touring plans website? what website would that be ? I am going april 8-18 and am wondering about crowds also.thanks

A while back someone did a poll on which week-ends people had spring break. You might be able to search the thread and see if you could find it. I think those three weeks are really hard to tell because they are all during "someone's" spring break.

I went to search for your recommendation, but the search field is missing!

Well, I just found out that I have something tentatively scheduled for the third full week in March (19-25), and since I want to book my flight and room ASAP, I have to take that week out of consideration, which leaves me the last full week in March and the first full week in April.

Again, if anyone has been to the park during either of those two weeks in recent years, let me know how crowded it was.

Thanks,

I would choose the last week in March over the 1st week of April. My school district begins its Spring/Easter break on 4/6 with Teacher Conferences (the kids are off but the teachers are in). You'll find that many school districts in the Northeast have the week of 4/9-4/15 off for Easter and Passover. The parks will begin to get more crowded around Thurs., 4/6, and those numbers will increase thru the weekend.

I know that in East Tennessee schools are out the 20th-24th for Spring Break, and one online article that I found said that most schools in the US traditionally take their spring break in March.

Can anyone vouch for when the schools in Orlando and the surrounding areas take their spring break?

Thanks,

I finally broke down and purchased the Unofficial Guide to Disney World. It strongly indicated that the first week in April would be better than the last week in March.

My new question is which DW resort gives the best bang for the buck (mid-20 year old couple looking to spend as much time at the parks as possible), and can anyone recommend a website to find good deals on park passes and resorts that I can check against AAA and Disney's website?

Thanks
