Crowds before or after the runs

Planning on doing the runs in Jan, 2021. Thinking of the crowds, is it usually better to come earlier in the week to enjoy the parks or stay after the run weekend and enjoy the parks. I want to make this into a little vacation but I don't want to spend extra time there if it is going to be a mass of people. We usually go in Sept and take advantage of the low crowds.

I would vote for staying longer after the races. I have only done it once - back in 2013 - but the crowds were much lighter the Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday after the race rather than before.

Crowds during marathon weekend are usually not bad. The closer it is to New Years the busier it tends to be.

After is usually better. Gets you further away from holiday crowds

The crowds generally aren't drastically different before vs after unless race weekend is really close to New Year's. I'd look at it as vacation leading up to a race vs vacation post race. I always prefer to get the race done early in my vacation (both at Disney and other locations) so I'd stay after.

I've always stayed after the marathon weekend and have usually had low crowds. I also feel like I can stay out as long and walk as much as I can handle by doing it this way.
