Crowds BEFORE MNSSHP?

Hi!

We arrive at WDW on a Sunday morning, and I know the kids are going to want to head to MK first thing. That would have us hitting the parks at the time we usually leave to avoid crowds (probably lunch time or shortly after). I cringe at the idea, especially on a Sunday.

But it dawned on me that the MNSSHP will probably be happening that evening. I was curious if the crowd level for the day might actually be lower than a normal Sunday because people w/out park hoppers might not waste a ticket on a park that closes so early? Has anyone noticed the crowds lower/higher or just a typical Sunday?

Also, do they let everyone use the entire park until 6:00? Or is the park limited starting at 4ish? I can't remember what I've read here.

TIA

We never went on Sunday but if the busses from Pop were any indication, it was no lighter than normal.

Are you going to the halloween party? Since you're getting there at lunch time, why not do Chef Mickey's for lunch or something, bum around the pool a bit, and then do MNSSHP. Might be fun.

I honestly don't remember the park being that crowded before a Sunday MNSSHP (we've been to MNSSHP on Sunday twice). It's lower crowd season overall (or so they say), so it doesn't feel overwhelming to me. And as for the park being "limited," there was one time when they started ushering guests out around 5:00pm that I can remember, but usually everyone stays until 6:00.

If I were you, it's your first day there and the kids are going to want to go to MK, so I'd just say to heck with it and go! Tell them that you're only going to ride a couple of rides and then leave because the park will be closing, but that you understand how much it means to them to see the park on the first day.

We hadn't planned on doing the party our first night. We were thinking of waiting until that Thursday. I guess we'll decide when the dates are officially released.

Oh well...I was grasping at straws that the crowds might be less LOL. If we do go, and aren't doing the party that night, we'll just be prepared to just be visiting for the afternoon, and won't worry about hitting too many attractions.

Thanks!
