Anyone know crowd status in DL today? Its busy in the parks but I am wondering if I can hop to DCa to get WOC FPs? Is there any need of FPs for the 3rd show?

I don't doubt it is quite crowded today. It's still somewhat interesting to compare this photo with the crowds on Main St. USA before opening on May 22. The sea of people in Main St. was shoulder-to-shoulder. It was completely PACKED! It was still an enjoyable experience. The excitement and energy from the crowds was intense!

That picture is deceptive because at that time everyone who had camped out or arrived extra early was concentrated on Main St. Shortly after that the rest of the park was open and crowds dispersed. When we arrived inside the park shortly after 8am it just looked like a normal busy morning (plus tons of awesome CMs greeting us, jumbo trons and the special stage set up in front of the castle). We had a 10 minute wait on Star Tours and then 5 minutes on Astro Blasters before our Minnie & Friends breakfast and opening ceremonies. There were lots and lots of people though. Extremely crowded but I have not heard of any closures. We left around 1pm and probably won't make it back in (daughters are pooped!). They are happy to watch the outdoor movie and fireworks from PPH. Oh well, gotta know when not to push it! ;)

People showed up early for the freebies, special merchandise, and the bragging rights but from what I heard it wasn't too much different than a normally busy summer day.

I was hoping for the webcams to be on today, like they have been for the 24hr events.
It would be fun to watch the action while sitting here with my feet up on the computer desk.

If anyone knows if the cams are on please post a link.

thanks

This afternoon was surprisingly uncrowded, at least compared to the past two days. As a pp said, it seemed like the crowdest time of day was 10am through 2pm. By 3:00 the walk ways were much less congested. Clearly people came early and left early, as opposed too normal day when crowds arrive late and stay late.

A CM said the day was much less busy than they thought it would be, and they never came close to a park closure.

I had a strong feeling this would be the case! Darn my girls needed a swim and a nap though. So happy we got to be there today. :)

I ended up hopping to DCA to get Soaring FPs at 4pm and there were no lines in either direction.

Moved over to DCA at 5:30 and still no line in either direction. DCA was quiet all evening. Watched 2nd WOC and it felt pretty empty. CM told me they would likely do mostly standbys for 3rd WOC at 11:15.

Here's a link to a video of the special ceremony that featured Richard Sherman and Ashley Brown.

The link was posted from the @disneyland Twitter account along with several other fun and nostalgic #LiveFrom55 tweets. https://twitter.com/Disneyland.

I also really liked this video from the 1965 10th anniversary celebration:

We were surprised it wasn't busier, actually. We rode POTC with no line in the early morning. Never waited longer than 30 minutes for anything else. We were able to get great spots for PtN 25 minutes before it started near IASW. Now if everyone can go home today, that'd be great.pixiedust:

I was surprised too. I showed up around 7:45 and there were 2 people in line in front of me in the queue to get in. Main Street was packed but once we got to fantasyland there was literally only a queue for Peter Pan. Everything else was walk on. We felt like kids in a candy store. It was amazing. And the atmosphere was so great. We hoped over to DCA around 9. We came back to Disneyland at 9pm for fireworks. It would have been better to get there sooner but it wasn't possible to make my family move sooner. We spent the whole fireworks walking around. You had to keep moving.

Sorry to kind of hijack, but does anyone have any idea what crowds are predicted to be next week? I don't really know the comparisons to DW, but I'm used to their crowds in August. Think it will be better or worse??
I refuse to pay for TP, but I found a site that said DL will basically be a 9 all summer-that's like Christmas crowds at DW and I feel like it won't really be THAT bad.

So there was a third WOC?! We stayed at PPH and watched the 10:15 WOC from our room (loved it! but doesn't replace being down there in person FYI). We were falling asleep after 11:00 with curtains still open and I could see the Ferris wheel lighting up again but didn't realize another WOC was happening. Should have turned the special channel back on to listen!

Yeah there was a 3rd one. It is such a fab show. We had wanted to do the 12am PTN - but wore out and gave up. And tonight, both 1st PTN and fireworks were cancelled :(

Today feels much worse than the 60th (Or yesterday for that matter, but I was in DCA for most of it.)
