Crowds at Christmas

My dear sweet DIL has been bugging about a Christmas trip to Disney as long as we have known her and this year we just doing it !! YIPPEE!!

My question is this. I have been reading abou the HUGE crowds in December and I am hoping that we booked early enough to miss some of them. We are booked 12/11 thru 12/16. I have read that the really busy time starts around the 18th. Do you think we'll miss some of the huge Christmas rush?

We are taking our son, his wife and their baby who will be just 15 months. We are also taking my DIL niece who will be nine. I can hardly wait. My DH is not a true Disney lover, but I can make him love it for a week. Let me know what you all think about the timing. Thanks loads...............Jan

Christmas Week is the most crowded of all. Early Dec is very low crowds.

We went this past Christmas from 12/15 - 12/22. No crowds at all. We got off some of the rides and went right back on. The wait times would say 20 minutes, but there was no wait at all.

If you are going that early in December you should be free from most of the crowds. Best of luck and enjoy.

We went during --so the times you have mentioned here should be GREAT. I knew it would be crowded, but its DISNEY and I just didn't care--I had a great time regardless. I can't say the same about Disneyland during Spring Break last year though--Not so great and the crowds were obnoxious. When I am with the "crowds" at Disney World, it seems so much better--spread out. You didn't mention which park DL or WDW?

ooops Sorry WDW. I have done DL several times but we want to see all the Christmas things in FL. Now I have to keep myself from wishing the year away. Thanks for all the encouragement about the timing.........Jan

We went 12/12-12/16/2007. It was crowded. Apparently not like it is the week of Christmas (I have never been at this time - only heard). But it is not unbearable. It is hands down the best time to visit WDW and I think people know that.

I think you'll be fine! We typically go around that time (our Nov. trips go into the first few weeks of Dec.) and it's WONDERFUL! You'll have a fantastic time!!!
