Crowds and Park Hours for 1st week in January

I'm doing some long term planning and I'm wondering what the park hours and crowds will be like in the week after January 1st. This coming year the 1st is on a Sunday and the following year it will be on a Monday.

We spent the week before Christmas at WDW this last year and it was great compared to our normal trips in the summer. We are hoping we could see the decorations and maybe have later park hours during this period since some schools might still be on winter break.

My wife and I both teach so we cannot go during the "normal" slow periods.

Crowds empty out a day or two after January 1. The following weekend is the WDW Marathon and Half Marathon, but the impact on crowds at the parks is minimal. There are some disruptions in traffic flow the weekend of the Marathon.
